I ate some pretty weird shit in Asia... shark-head, snake, bugs... and a lot of stuff i didn't recognize. Some of it was good, some of it unremarkable, some i would never try again.
Like that goddamn shark-head

Everyone knows the machines couldn't figure out what to make chicken taste like, which is why chicken tastes like everything.

you do know that sweetbreads is either the thymus gland or pancreas of a young animal, usually a lamb or calf.

When I was living in waco my neighbor was from a small town near the coast. Almost daily they would have frog legs, dove, hog etc... but the best thing I tried while I was there was alligator. Tasted almost like wild hog just a bit rarer I guess.
As for eating brains and balls, kybe.
edit: what is so weird about eating a fried banana?

Yes, because that's not a staple of a Caribbean diet. Also, I'm sure there some much more interesting things to try at a Sushi restaurant.

Not a fan of raw food, so I tried some rolls (california, ginger, chicken), shrimp tempura, as well as beef and chicken teriyaki topped off with green tea ice cream.
Delicious

So, the strangest food you've ever eaten is fried banana. For being such a mutt, you're pretty uncultured.

In Ireland (if I remember correctly) they have a tradition where they cook the placenta and serve it to guests...think of it as a baby shower after the fact.

What the hell is wrong with you? Between your comments in the movie thread, your 'art' and now this i think it's safe to say that you're utterly devoid of taste.
Don't you think that taste would be a useful asset in life, so that when something tasteful comes your way you're able to say 'hey this is nice'? How will you ever achieve happiness this way, being unable to appreciate the finer things in life?
I know you can't argue about taste, but you can goddamn well argue about a complete lack of it. Moron.

I recall a similar thread quite some years back.
If I remember correctly, Saturn won that contest, by quite a
disgusting margin..
Anyway, strangest "food" was probably grubs that live in the burls of tall grasses. They tasted like walnuts.
I also was talking with a park naturalist once about organic matter that makes up swamp and lake muck. They explained that it was actually edible and you could eat it if you were starving in the woods. So naturally I tried a bit. It tasted like you might expect.
Also, lutefisk. It's just wrong.
As for bananas... wut? I grill bananas on a regular basis. They're fantastic. And any decent sushi bar will serve eel.
EDIT: Some food that's not gross, but just weird, is snot fruit, which I first had in Mexico. I had never heard of it before. Slimy, but delicious.
And I had kalua pig while in Hawai'i. Again, delicious, but the concept is a bit archaic.
