eeyy so after a long time i finally put a finish on this thing

i had it together back then and played it unfinished for about 8 months maybe and then decided i was going to put
actual nitro-cellulose old time finish on there.

so i ordered some mohawk brand nitro in a mary kay type white finish and it took 6 months to arrive  !

then i started having 2nd thoughts about the nitro because it never really cures and it isnt inert, plus its toxic as hell
to apply

so i avoided thinking about it for a long time, then i finally decided to not do the nitro and instead to do a more inert type finish.

about a month ago i started on it, i used a whitewash wood dye, then waterbased spray poly on the body.

for the neck i wiped it down with acetone , which seemed to bring out the figure, then put wipe-on oil poly.

all the metal is pre-meltdown japan stuff(awesome quality)

the pickups are vintage 1970 excell strat pickups, they came in ibanez and greco lawsuit strats.
they read in the 4k range , so very weak , they sound awesome, very springy and boingy! jazzy in the front and twangy in the back.

it looks awesome up close the grains look velvety and 3d-ish

when i was avoiding finishing it , i put this partcaster tele together from stray parts i had around.

it has a very old growth 1 piece pine body and a massive one piece USACG neck, the rear pickup is a NOS gibson marauder(gibsons version of a tele) pickup from the late 70's , and the front pickup is a NOS 70's gibson S1 (gibson version of a strat) i almost always use strat pickups in teles in strats because i find them a truer tele tone lol :kooky:

the metals are japan too

ive been playing the shit out of this thing for about 18 months

the finish is rattle can gold and water poly on the body and wipe-on on the neck and weighs about 51/2 pounds

i am going to up some sound samples but keep in mind i am really a metal player and twanging is quite different and new to me still heh

also i have a body for another one its 1 piece old old pine with a flamed ash top, i want to put a short scale mustang neck on it. when i dont know tho

ey no big deal

i had them in a little bin in my office, i let my kids check out everything, they learn stuff ey.

if i am to lazy to fix them i have more

i even have a back up set of the 70's excel's

* edit

now that i'm on one i realize ive mistold you they are 70's excel's

these are actually early 70's maxon single coils, theyre still from ibanez and greco and other brand strat copies

these read in the 3.7k type range, the excel's are in the 5. k range

theyre taller than standard fender coils

theres my old temp fix when i bought them they were all broken with the inner coil wire gone (common) alot of people say they are write-offs like that but i found that i can wiggle technique the bottom black piece off and , waalaa there it is , the gone forever inner coil wire, of course it is a super tricky endeavor but ive repaired many that way

so this time i'll solder it , the thin coil wire, it just likes to disintegrate with heat tho thats why i shy away from it

then i'll somehow hardmount the lead to the pickup somehow for a heavy duty mechanical connection so it wont happen again.

i wanted the baseplate in the tele slot so i bashed in the sides!
