I was finally able to create an account and login. Aside from the whole server/account thing the game is incredible so far. Its still Zelda meets God of War but now its got Skyrim mixed in too.

Fantastic game.
Very worthy successor to the first Darksiders, which was also outstanding.
Pushes you a bit into the RPG-realm, which I'm not particularly a fan of, but here it works quite well.
So well, that all the leveling and offense/defense customisation can get addictive, where you spend half the time tweaking your setup.
I had to tell myself at a certain point: no, you don't have to kill everything that crosses your path, and you don´t have to customise every time you pick up loot.
Stupid grinder.
Just started playing today, leveled up to 8.
This may very well be my bestest, favoritest game, like, evar.

if you find a game that doesn't have a demo try on live. I couldn't find a demo for this game so I looked it up on on live and sure enough it was there. I got to play it for 10 minutes and it looks promising. On live have tons of games to play.

I downloaded and played the demo for the first Darksiders game this weekend and I'm a bit in doubt about this one. The design of things is great. It all looks really demonic and bad ass and everything. However, as with many hack 'n slash games, I wonder if things don't get stale after some time?
The demo is quite sizable and features the "Twilight Cathedral" level. I guess this is a level somewhere further into the game as the demo just drops you in there without any real explanation of what's going on, who you are, why you're there or what your goals are.
I wonder if, other than slaying piles of hellish enemies, there is any other point to the game? Is there an interesting story being told, or is it really mindless button bashing 15 hours straight? Are things going to be epic and grand or is it one room of enemies after the other? Also, does the combat evolve as you get further into the game, or does it stick to a "pressing one button and sprinkle in a few other buttons to make different moves" type of thing?
I like the way the game looks visually, and I tried really hard to fall in love with the game by playing the demo, but it just didn't really grab me like I had hoped it would.
I must admit that the last true hack 'n slash game I played was Too Human, and that left a very, very bitter aftertaste.

No it is a great game with a good story. You gain new weapons and moves that keeps you on your toes...worth a play and you can snatch it for £10

Yeah it's only €15 in the nearby shop so that's not the problem. Time mainly is.
Recently began in Assassin's Creed: Revelations so I think I'll finish that first. By that we'll have to see if there's still a drought of new games, then Darksiders might be a good filler until the big holiday releases hit.

lol, I picked that up from the bargain bin a couple of months ago.
I may be a cunt for not giving it a fair chance, but I quit 2 minutes in, and never touched it again.
But that shit isn't even in the same universe as Darksiders.
I understand your apprehension, and I will even admit combat can get pretty button-mashingy at times in Darksiders.
But combat is just one part of it.
Shit that works in Zelda, God of War, and Prince of Persia culminates into Darksiders.
For me, it's the ultimate action adventure RPG platformer.

Be glad you gave up on Too Human, you saved yourself a lot of frustration. I actually played all the way through it. You know, that game has an achievement for dying 100 times. And every death is followed by a 30 second, unskippable cutscene showing a valkyrie picking up your body and taking off, flying away. That basically means I spent more than 50 minutes watching myself die.
So dying is annoying enough, but having it rubbed in like that just crosses some moral borders. That is just uncool. It's one of the few games I actually sold again.

DS1 isn't required to play DS2. It will help you understand what happened to War and why Death needs to save him, but it could just as easily be played after DS2 as a prequel.
DS2 has been much better than DS1 so far. It has even more RPG elements which add just the right amount of depth, and it got rid of the constant and overly long "monster portal" rooms. There are still plenty of rooms that spawn in monsters, but it isn't as tedious, as often, or as blatant. The gear hunt is a nice addition but I feel like they should have gone with fewer stats or made them more interesting. The boss fights are a lot less epic in DS2 though.
I made it to level 14 last night after beating the champion so I could gain an audience with the Lord of Bones. Been speccing into Harbinger and mostly just use Teleport Slash to wrath dump. Found a pair of electric claw weapons that look amazing and do 1085 dps so I tear through shit.

1085 dps? WTF?
I'm a bit further in, rocking possessed double scythes maxed (91-103 damage) and possessed axe maxed (396-428 damage), and thought that was was as good as I could do.
Where the hell did you find that weapon, or was it randomly dropped?

It was a random drop purple and its a fast weapon. Look at the bottom of your inventory screen for the button to toggle the stats page. You can see the actual dps you would do with that weapon you're considering which helps you compare claws to a mace or etc.

Ah yes, I'm confusing damage with damage per second

I like to keep my secondary weapon slow, more powerful and extra goodies giving, since the primary scythes are fast enough for me.

BTW, I don't use the teleport slash skill much.
Got my ghoul skill going on, pretty much maxed it out.
It's really effective against clouds of smaller enemies.
While the ghouls keep them busy, you can then unhinderedly swat away with your heavy weapon, collecting goodies and wrath in the process

Just had to google to get me out of a level (Psychameron). Sucks.
Solution was to fast travel to another section. Couldn't exit on foot.
Don't know if it's a bug or whatever, can't imagine it was designed that way.
That shit shouldn't happen in a game, where you can only proceed using what's basically a hack.
Still a sweet game, though.
Enjoying every (non-buggy) second of it

Finished it yesterday.
Fantastic game, great ride. Took me about 25 hours to complete.
Can't be arsed with all the side quests, though. Collect all gnomes and what have you.
I have OCD, but apparently OCD-lite, thank Zeus' clotted beard!

Same here. I've been working on some of the remaining side quests before going into new game plus. Not sure if I feel like hunting down all the rocks and relics...

The new DLC was released early over the weekend. My gear is insane but it still felt really short and easy. The final boss was pretty cool though, reminded me of a boss you'd find in WoW. Closest I've come to dieing in a while.
Only things left to do is full clear the crucible and possibly grind out the collections.
