The software that you download for the steelseries has voice pitch modulators, and it works in game. it's fucking awesome... one minute i'll sound like a slut, the other i sound like lucifer lolololol

Damnit. I like the look and retractable mic on the 5H much better but from what I'm reading those PC350 are way better than steelseries for overall use.

They look like they are exactly like these but with a mic...

i have those linked, they are alright... use them for when I play guitar on the amp.
edit: that's not all I do with them of course... but my free bose headphones (
http://www.bose.com/controller?url=/sho ... /index.jsp) Sound better on portable music players. They sound like they have more bass and are lighter.
I want to try out my bose aviators (got those free too) on everything but they need a new main cord and plugs. the audio works fine with an adapter to 2.5mm but the mic plug is frayed. They cancel noise like a mofo though

Yep, that's pretty much them andyman. The mic flips up out of the way when you're not using it
I even use them with my telly when I'm watching or playing things late at night, as they have a nice long lead.

Astro, that's it. I always forget their name. Do you own one shaft?

yeah. they're good. a bit lacking in the low frequency. From what I read they were intentionally designed that way claiming that for "competitive" gaming the mids and highs are most important for hearing enemies and such. *shrugs*

$200 for gaming headphones?!? wtf?
I'd actually agree that reduced low frequencies is a good thing. I had a pair of crappy Sony's that I liked more than a "better" pair. I could hear footsteps and things like that better instead of the bass/boom of explosions.

I have a pair of turtle beach x41's and I DO NOT reccomend them... not only do they chew through batteries, but they run on a wifi band frequency so whenever my roomate is constantly using her fucking cellphone and wireless laptop, the damn headphones are popping. LOUDLY. Like hurt your ears loud. Sure they are virtual 7.1, but it sure doesn't sound like it expecially compared to my pc headphones.
some pro's though: separate volume control for game and chat. I can turn down the 1v100 game sounds almost all the way down and just use the game chat which makes it much more enjoyable. They are pretty comfy. They also have a bass boost if you want more bass for movies or what not. The base transmitter has optical in and out, as well as rca l/r and stereo jack inputs so it can work with basically everything. The mic works great too.

I guess i didn't realize the headphones were 200. I bought the mix-amp (awesome) package for 260. looks like they rape you if you buy them separately.

I just use my normal Sennheiser headphones with my webcam mic. Nobody ever complains about my mic audio and those headphones are ace!

Ugh. I have less of an idea what I want now than when I started!
I've been reading up on getting a Zalman clip-on mic along with a set of high-end headphones but there are too many options. HD595 with a Little Dot MkIII sounds like a wicked setup for home but part of me really wants something that I can take with me to work. Maybe a pair of HD555 without an amp would work...

I'm using the HD555's right now with my Logitech webcam mic. No heavy breathing complaints.

If I were you and wanted a separate mic, I'd look for a set of headphones that are COMFORTABLE and have a large speaker. I think the biggest part of the sound for computers is going to be the software and hardware that is driving the headphones, but mostly the software.
go to a guitar center where they have headphones on demo and try some out for sound...

my Razer Barracudas came today, they're fucking awesome. I had to spend a fair bit of time tweaking them to get the bass levels right but now they're perfect. The 5.1 makes a big difference to games, especially when moving from two big floor speakers connencted to a hi fi to headphones. They're nice and light but feel really robost.

Noise-canceling mic
It reduces annoying background noise for clear, intelligible voice commands.
umm intelligible as the user, it should say...
have you picked a pair yet?????

I'd like to get the HD555 or HD595. But I have concerns about the open design because it means I may not be able to use them at work, and they may be next to useless at home. Now that my friend is living with me I have someone else sharing my computer room and he plays a lot of games on it (usually really fucking loud too

).

The 555's already come with a 1/4" to 1/8" adaptor (and why is it $14?).
