1. Worked for my dad/grandad before highschool when I could laying brick.
2. Worked atStarnet from tenth grade to a little after graduation, doing tech support and some repairs.
3. Dropped college a few semesters in to work for JE Merit/Jacobs at the local Kimberly Clark plant doing metal work.
4. Three years later moved and went back to school, no workie
5. Dropped out again and working for Turner Pipe now, going on around eight months I think.

While at university [part time]:
1. Network admin [pathology lab] [3 years]

Was also volunteer network admin for a non-profit organization dealing with emotional health & gender issues and violence against women and children.

After graduating:
2. Developer [security surveillance software] [3.5 years]
3. Developer [backend retail management software] [1.5 years]
4. Developer [service management software] [9 months so far]

Probably want to switch to consulting or a BA position at some stage I suppose. Also want to do my masters within the next 5 years or so. No motivation though =[

got any examples? this is something i've been looking into.

1) Data entry at the plant my father worked at. I also taught some of his colleague bigwigs an Intro to Computers type of course I put together myself, pretty much so they could check their email and use MS Word. This was my first job at about 17 and lasted a whopping one summer.
2) While in college I lived at home and only did a paper route for a year while there. The job was easy, but my car's brakes hated it.
3) After college I worked for a temp agency for about a year doing data entry again.
4) I'm currently doing data entry for a property management firm, though now I'm a sub-contractor. It's a pretty interesting job with a variety of different things to do to keep me from getting too bored, plus my coworker is pretty awesome and she's easy to get along with.

Funnily enough, we're early in the process [demos and such] with Canon Australia, they're looking to replace their existing solution and have shortlisted a bunch of options.

Ours is a fairly comprehensive package. Does the normal stuff like field service, depot repair, tech logistics etc. It's got dynamic scheduling and integrates with google maps, lots more. Dunno, I'm not a salesman.

Get your services manager to exercise their Google fu.

It's a tech support job for a company called CenterBeam. Their office is insane, I've worked in various offices around town and come to expect your generic cubicle and atmosphere but this place is all brick walls cause it's built in an old building. Saint-John has some of the oldest buildings in north america and the architechture is nuts compared to today, you might be used to seeing stuff like that overseas though. Whatever isn't a brick wall is glass with these large wooden pillars that run through everything. If I get a spot there I'll post a pic or two it's really nice. I'm still going through interviews right now and their tough, they require a lot of certifications and I don't have any so their just testing me on everything and if I pass and get hired I'll need to give them a deadline on when I'll obtain those certifications. I'm not even sure which ones they want me to get. Back when I was studying this stuff it'd be the equivalent of an MCSE or something, I've been out of the certification loop so long I'm not even sure what they call them anymore.

So far I've had 2 interviews, my last one was technical and I was told I did well. My fingers are still crossed...

My first job out of school was as a videotape recycler, gaussing used beta SP stock, pre-blacking it and sending it back to the customer.

My second job was on a local building site working for John Laing Construction as a Chainman (a civil engineer's assistant). I can empathise with Geebs' loathing of concrete. I had hair down to the middle of my back back then, and the amount of concrete dust I got in it meant I could stand it on end. Concrete bogies aren't fun either.

I then went back to college and got a measly BTEC, and while I was there I worked weekends at a service station. This turned into a full time job for a year after college, after which I got a job as an AV Technician at the local nuclear power station.

After that, I got my first "Avid" job as an Installation Engineer. That was for 4 years in Bristol.

Now I'm doing the same job, except more focussed on support and working for a different company in Soho, London.
It's a jack-of-all-trades, master-of-none kind of existence, where you're expected to have a solid grounding in multiple fields, such as AV, general Windows & Mac support, server management & networking, and specialist knowledge of leading media apps such as Avid Media Composer / Symphony / DS / Unity, Apple Final Cut Pro / Final Cut Server / XSan, Adobe Creative Suite, that sorta thing. I want to really start focussing on SAN implementation and management, but my *nix is weak, and I get no time to dedicate to learning it all properly.

I haven't planned my career at all, and kinda fell in to it as I seem to be good at it. They call me a Broadcast Engineer, but I think that's pushing it a bit far to be honest. I haven't lifted a soldering iron since secondary school. Then again, Engineer seems to have become a catch-all career description in recent years.

So, only 5 separate jobs.
