Yes, god damn these people for doing something they find fun. Why can't the world befull of boredom.
Not saying I do anything like this, but come on, you are pretty much crying at people going out having a laugh. Sounds a bit sad...
I draw the line furries though, those cunts can diaf.

..and having a pop at cosplayers/furries is something folks here 'find fun'. if we all sat around being magnanimous, no-one would make any bloody posts.
maybe we could take it in turns to sacrifice ourselves and start a thread by mocking something, then everyone else can wade in like a sanctimonious little prick instead of just taking a dig and having a laugh. would that be a better world for you?

btw, since when did "cosplay" become the word of choice for this kinda activity? dunno about anyone else, but we always called it "fancy dress"
Both sound equally retarded in fairness.

"fancy dress" ?
Cosplay means "costume play". They're all in costumes. Looks like cosplay to me.

yeah, we used to call them fancy dress parties. in fact, we still do. not sure if it's a regional thing here in the uk, or whether we're all a bit queer... possibly both. still true though!
any brits can verify this?

I beleive it changed when it became a mass thing dressing up as geeky characters and acted out stuff?

Nah, it's sadder than that. It's one of those white-people-adopt-japlish-expressions that let you know you're really at the bottom of the barrel

I think cosplay is specifically aimed at dressing up as a videogame/comic/movie character. "Fancy Dress" sounds more generic, where you just wear some kind of weird outfit.
