You can easily carry it around, it's only 2.1 kilograms. My palms are resting perfectly beneath the keyboard, just sometimes I slide off it too quickly. But i'm laying on the couch :D

what do you use to browse the internet on your macs? Safari, Firefox?

I installed Firefox again, cause I have a bookmarks sync program. Now I can easily sync bookmarks between my PC and PB :)

i normally use Firefox on my Powerbook. i'm just used to it because that's all i use on my PC.

while you're on this Apple buying stint, you might want to get yourself an Airport Express basestation that you can hook up to your stereo. with that, you can wirelessly stream iTunes music to your stereo. :)

note: you may have difficulties getting Airport Express to talk with your existing wireless network (assuming it's not already Apple-based)

I got to admit, before I got my iPod G4 last year I never thought about getting a powerbook or ibook whatsoever. I've come to appreciate the quality of apple products. It seems you pay a little bit extra, but it comes loaded with features and software. The overall package and presentation are excellent. It shines a little light in the grey PC market. (the white apple logo on the back of the screen has some awesome illuminance).

I'm going to use this Mac next to my normal XP PC, so I'm going to use the best of both worlds. It'll be a great thing to bring with me when I have to do Powerpoint/Keynote presentations in the hospital :)

here's a quick illustration of my setup at home:

i opted for the Airport Express basestation since i'm too lazy to swap out cd's for my stereo downstairs and also because we've got absolute crap radio stations here in Indianapolis. currently it's running through a 600+ track 80's playlist. :)

oh no doubt, Saturn. i wouldn't say i have my Powerbook as a replacement for my PC Workstation.... rather, it's a supplement. whenever i want to propose something to a web / interactive / graphic design client, i bring my Powerbook. it's a great tool.

edit: and yes, i totally agree about the whole presentation issue with Apple. every product i've bought of their's has been neatly packaged so that when you open it up for the first time, it looks so nice. just the way they package their Powerbooks, for example. you open the box to see everything neatly placed to showcase each and every component. when's the last time you've seen a PC component or PC, itself, packaged with such care? it gives me the feeling that Apple cares more about their products than other companies.

How does that airport connect to the stereo? In your diagram it looks like you just have a cat5 cable running into your stereo - does the airport come with some kind of adapter that takes the network stream and converts it to a regular stereo jack or something?

Soap, mommy and daddy still take care of you and you spend 37 hours a week playing a fantasy video game. Doombrain wins and you should stop trying because you're not even coming close.
