You bitched about having to use it online..

Ok, so you can set steam up as a simple menu for offline mode..

Now you're gonna bitch about that?

Get over it..

That's so incredibly lame. :icon19:
So you're supposed to download GBs worth of files just to play a fucking game? Yeah right :icon19:

I had the full library on my account, for free. Steam is great, I didn't even have to find the isos :icon19:

I agree, you should be able to pick which updates you want to download. I also think it's bullshit that you have to have a steam account to decrypt the files when you buy the game from a retailer in the box just to play SP. The main problem I have with it is the similar to denzii's, say you have to reinstall in a few years and steam is no more. How will you decrypt the files on reinstall? Surely they would release some patch to do that, but what if they didn't? $50 down the drain?Would you be able to burn the data files and then paste them into the install? I think I'll waste a disk tomorrow to find out.

i didn't care much for steam when i first installed HL2. but after i reformatted, it was nice to just download the games via steam instead of popping in the cd's. i just downloaded steam, logged in with my username/pass, selected the game i wanted to play, and it started downloading immediately.

personally i think it's a great tool for the people who are on a beefy broadband connection.

I don't have a problem with the connection or anything, but I've got 5 discs that I would like to keep using if steam ever goes balls up. If they ever do, what's going to happen with the people that only have it by download? Do they just not have the game anymore? I'd rather have a hard copy of the game in full if possible. I agree it's convenient now, but it could get messy real fast if steam goes down.

Steam allows you to backup the d/led game to CD or DVD.

Says the guy who happily installed the spyware-infested Exeem.

Yeah, I'll take advice from you. Just because you don't care about your privacy doesn't mean we don't.

Yeah I think that's bullshit. I'm seriously mad at any company that installs software on your account in a way that makes it easy for you to miss. There's a few websites like http://www.games.com that install adware on your pc if you only visit the site! There's no option to not install it.

This really pisses me off to no end. Especialy since I'd like to get a game like HL2 but don't have an internet connection so now I can't get it?

Fuck that shit, I'll personaly pirate any game that treats its customers like that just on principal.
