What do you expect, nintendo hold the patent on a true, decent d-pad, like back in the "old days", or on a SP/DS.Kracus wrote:Actualy those controllers really do look like shit... That D pad looks awful

Two things:o'dium wrote:Xenon is still able to play old xbox games.
As for batteries, dont worry, see the bottom of that pad shot? looks like you will be able to charge it like a mobile phone. Not a dock i know, but better than nothing.
one dont you think that the plug is for the headset?
two If its backwards compatable, then most of the hacks/exploits would still be able to work ( Change a few things ofcorse )
Well, its possible they ditched old games but thats a bad move TBH. PS2 didn't suffer from "hacks" etc and it still played old games?AmIdYfReAk wrote:Two things:o'dium wrote:Xenon is still able to play old xbox games.

As for the pad, yes, thats possible. But still, that would be a bit sucky

Well, the xbox rep that i talk to said that M$ had shifted BIG BUCKS into making sure this would stay. I find it a strange choice to put so much money into something and then just say "nah forget it".SplishSplash wrote:And what makes you so sure? I still think it's highly improbable.o'dium wrote:Xenon is still able to play old xbox games.
Its a great move if it DOES play old box games. But even if they did just say "forget it" i guess it wouldn't be a huge waste of cash. Its M$ after all.
it's a fact something had to be done with the wires. ever been to someones house with 8 people or even four playing splitscreen? fucking wires all over everything, people tripping on em, etc....o'dium wrote:Even the headset it wireless? Sweet, very, very sweet. Battery intensive, but sweet. No more wires.
But again, some kind of dock NEEDS to be added.
im sure they will have some kind of charging system.

I've played a 4man xbox live game, each with headsets... Its not possible... Its just fucking crazy... You either pull your wire out, or somebody trips up over the mess...shadd_. wrote:it's a fact something had to be done with the wires. ever been to someones house with 8 people or even four playing splitscreen? fucking wires all over everything, people tripping on em, etc....o'dium wrote:Even the headset it wireless? Very wrong...
I'm all for wireless after i brought my wavebird. Pad owns. But i DO see a problem with batteries. My wavebird lasts for 100 hours on its batteries. Thats not so bad to only have to recharge every 100 hours, is it?

shadd_. wrote:AmIdYfReAk wrote:yea, but now if you are runnign two Xbox's beside eachother, then how will each xbox know what controler belongs to waht?
some kind of mac addy?
Nah you just choose what player you are like most games these days with the controler in your hand the computer assings each one a port and voila. Problem solved.
Easy. On the wavebird, you get to pick what channel your pad and reciever are, and you get 16 channels. so 1 pad is 1, 2 pad is 2, headset 1 is 3 etc etc etc...shadd_. wrote:AmIdYfReAk wrote:yea, but now if you are runnign two Xbox's beside eachother, then how will each xbox know what controler belongs to waht?

4 players a console. 2 consoles. 4 headsets a console.AmIdYfReAk wrote:yea, but trust me, i see a problem when there are 2 consoles in the mix, as well as ~4-8 people.
Thats 8 pads in total, and 8 headsets in total.
Pad 1/1 uses channel 1
Pad 2/1 uses channel 2
Pad 3/1 uses channel 3
Pad 4/1 uses channel 4
Pad 1/2 uses channel 5
Pad 2/2 uses channel 6
Pad 3/2 uses channel 7
Pad 4/2 uses channel 8
Headset 1/1 uses channel 9
Headset 2/1 uses channel 10
Headset 3/1 uses channel 11
Headset 4/1 uses channel 12
Headset 1/2 uses channel 13
Headset 2/2 uses channel 14
Headset 3/2 uses channel 15
Headset 4/2 uses channel 16
So incase i'm being VERY dumb, i cant see 8 players on 2 xboxes each with headsets being a problem? The only problem is settings up all the channels? but that only needs to be done once

i know that, but this is not what im getting at.. im saying between the two consoles, how do you know what one you are going to join when you are teaming up with two consoles in the same area? say side to side?
because say like halo, when you need to press A to join a team.. the controller will be assigned to the console, But what if both consoles are waiting for someone to press a, and the controller is in range of both consoles.
then what?

Once again, you have 16 channels to assign. Only one player cna have 1 channel, and only on one xbox. so when timmy presses 1, it only works for HIS pad, not bills pad next to him. Unless of course they bodged the setup.AmIdYfReAk wrote:i know that, but this is not what im getting at.. im saying between the two consoles, how do you know what one you are going to join when you are teaming up with two consoles in the same area? say side to side?

Nah cause even with two consoles unless you're playing seperate the game would all be loaded together so the computer would know there's two consoles. The only problem I could think of is if you had two consoles playing say one single player game that two people are playing.AmIdYfReAk wrote:yea, but trust me, i see a problem when there are 2 consoles in the mix, as well as ~4-8 people.
