Oh yes, the way Origin works is retarded, i agree completely. What i meant was the idea of Steam having a competitor isn't a bad one per se, usually some good healthy competition leads to better products or more service for the consumer.
The way EA has handled Origin is just absolutely dumb though, they could have taken a good look at steam, figure out why us gamers love it and went with that - but instead it seems like they think forcing consumers to handle their games from an inferior piece of software and not offering anything extra is a better way to build a userbase.
If i didn't like the occasional hour of Battlefield 3 Origin would be the first thing i uninstall. And if i was an EA boss i'd fire the entire marketing department and replace them with monkies.
have to agree, if origin was just an option of distribution and the retail box did not need me to sign up im happy. but lets face it. thats not gonna happen. YARR
