He has very ambitious plans and I couldn't begin to repeat the extremely complex and detailed technical stuff he babbled on about, but essentially, he wants higher resolution eye panels, 120hz and he's toying with multiple lasers per eye. Be nice to be at quakecon because he's got some headsets there for people to try out.
I definitely agree on higher resolution and 120Hz. The Sony is only 720p and it's a major turnoff. I think 1440p 120Hz would be perfect

it was a neat when JC talked about how the human eye can only really really focus on a small area of interest while the other peripheral areas are not perceived at the same level of detail.

so only ultrahigh-res-up the area the viewers eye is focusing on at that moment.

so all that head tracking and all that.

kind of an interesting concept but maybe only a workaround for the full monty
it is about time!

$800,000 ?

So what if only a small percentage of people like it at first. Most new things aren't popular straight away. [anecdote]When I first played Pong (when it was the only videogame available to the public), I thought it was the shittest, lamest thing ever, and videogames were a complete waste of time. Now look at videogames (!)[/anecdote]

Err... no, cause what you are talking about there is duplicating human vison. Human vision already exists in the system, so you need to duplicate reality within that system. Otherwise you are just squaring* the faults of human vision. They are however, only faults in so far as comparing them to a 2D image, cause the way human vision works allows you to focus mentally on something by looking only at that in detail.

That review says it's low res. How does pixelated 3D look? Like Lego or what?
