I use Liquorice for preparing some of my chinese dishes.
It also contains chemicals wich have the properties of having a strong antiviral effect, and can in some cases be used as a compound for a vaccine for some of the known hepatitis virusses.

Only people with no taste buds.
Or people who don't eat anything besides ordering pizzas, curry dishes, chicken backon sandwiches and haven't even the slightest idea of cooking a greek salade with some ovenbacked liquorice infused potatoes and some chippolatas.

Black licorice you mouth-breathers. The same shit that smells and tastes every bit as foul as Sambuca. And I've had a 3 alarm Sambuca hangover...so I hate it even more than the average person.
Look...I realize there are millions upon millions of people who love that shit, but that's not my fault.

it's doable, all you need to do is introduce diff. ingredients in the mix.... the real issue is, none would ever notice the difference in flavor, other than the most basic, "in your face" iterations of it.
Creativity far surpasses the tongue's ability to discern complex, subtle flavors. LOL most of us can't even tell the difference between basic fruits, meats and vegetables while blindfolded. Alot of what people enjoy while eating is a superficial illusion at best...greatly based on sight, smell and texture.
The culinary arts at some point become a circle jerk among those who practice it. Most people wouldn't even be able to appreciate the flavors presented to them. Which kinda makes having an extraordinary palette as a chef a pointless endeavour at large.

Black licorice is amazing plus it's good for you. I'm sorry your experience was ruined by some cheap Canadian shit as I only eat the finest Fazer products from Finland.

liquorice is bad for you actually. It contains glycyrrhizin which is a substance that can give you high blood pressure if you eat a substantial amount of liquorice (which I believe is in the range of eating like 50 grams liquorice that could already have an effect on your body).

true about the glycyrrhizin and the high bloodpressure, but using very little in a soy based sause, is actually quite tastefull.
Alcohol is worse in every aspect, i'm referring to it's poisonous effects on the body and the known consequences short and longterm.
In short you can both drink alcohol or consume liquorice, just don't overdo/abuse it.
