I'm playing Far Cry 3 on my XBox now and I think it's an absolutely fantastic game. Far Cry 2 was okay-ish, but had a number of issues that prevented the game from being truly enjoyable, so I never got really far with that. Far Cry 3 basically solves all these issues (and goes back to the tropical island setting instead of rural Africa) and is just generally mad fun to play. I must say that while FC2 and FC3 show a large number of similarities, they make FC1 look like the odd duck because FC1 is quite a different game from FC2 and FC3.
I think it's €18 on Steam right now? Seems a bit steep for a Steam summer sale though, especially considering I bought it through an XBox Games on Demand sale for €10 three weeks ago. But all in all, I'd say the game is well worth it's 18 euros. It's up to you to make the guess about holding out in hopes of it dropping even further in price.

Far Cry 3 is basically Skyrim...that's why it owns so hard.
And why wait for a sale to play Skyrim? Only a waffling douchebag would wait for the price to come down on the greatest video game ever made.

murf... is the steam store down? Getting a white screen both in Steam and on the web.
I've grabbed myself Terraria, Assassin's Creed3, Risen 2 and bought a copy of the Witcher2 for a friend in need :P

Yeah, it's down every 8 hours since the sales update.

Skyrim Legendary Edition still 35. Vanilla Skyrim is 20. Nope. Game is almost two years old. Fuck off with those prices, this is the Summer Sale. (yes, this is how spoiled I've become, due to this event)

lol you realize that neither of those versions include the hundreds of downloadable mods, missions, characters, followers, quests, items, weapons and just about an entire other game you can get free from the Online Workshop? Cheap cunt.
I actually hope you don't buy it, just so you'll be deprived of an awesome gaming experience...cause yer a stupid fag.

Eh... It's a gorgeous world, sure. But my god the combat is abysmal. It really ruined the game for me. It's just so awkward and clunky. Granted, I can't think of another first person game I've played with melee combat in years, so I can't really recommend a better system. Maybe they're all this shit?
Plus, the crafting and economy in the game is annoying and time consuming. Really all this game was for me is Nature Simulator 2011.

I agree with the ingame economy. The crafting ruined a bunch of immersion for me, it was really weak that there were no npcs who could repair, enchant or craft items. So no matter what class you played you always had yo be part blacksmith.

lol next you fags will be complaining about having to actually pick flowers for alchemy.
But yeah I agree there should have been at least one NPC in each city that could upgrade your shit for you. They hinted at it with some NPC dialogues, but never delivered.
And I actually wanted to enchant the swords of guards who asked cause that would help if a dragon attacked the city.

Good lad.
Skyrim is the kind of game that deserves full price anyway, no matter how long it's been on the shelf.

Mod it!
edit:
blacksmiths can upgrade from nexus mods site.
I had a suite of mods that became my standard Morrowind install (without which was like playing baseq3 after years of osp), haven't quite reached that point with Skyrim yet!

And there you go...problem solved.
I had a shitload of mods running as well. The community is still going strong after 2 years and putting out higher and higher quality.
Now all we need is someone to create a mod that adds a shout that can fully upgrade (Level-dependant) a guard's armour and weapons, including enchantment if they ask. You could also script it so that if you offer to do it for a guard who asks, and there are other guards within earshot/visual range they'll rush over and want their gear upgraded as well. They'd huddle in a group, you stand back and let fly with a huge shout that upgrades them all in one gust. The townsfolk would scatter from the blast and would applaud when it's over, in that weird "Skyrim Clap". It'd be a memorable moment and you could even add dialogues where any guard that was upgraded thanks you for it, or perhaps asks for another upgrade if you've leveled up. I think it'd help solidify some towns/cities in the player's game experience in making "happy" bonds with NPCs and would help towards the quest of attaining Thane status in each town.
Some fuckin nerd should get right on that.

The visuals are astounding, even on lower settings. Give the MP a spin
It's pretty throwaway, but it's also not taken very seriously and relatively dick-head free.
It's really nice in Surround, one of the best looking games I ever tried so far.
I know it's not Steam Summer Sale anymore, but I bought Trine 2 for $2.99 (Midweek Madness). It's very pretty, looking forward to playing it.

Ooh, awesome. Thanks for the info. I loved the original Trine and getting the sequel at that price is just something I can't ignore!

Best 50 Skyrim Mods
Top 20 Skyrim Mods
Top 25 All-Time Rated
Depending on how you buy Skyrim (Steam or box) then that'll dictate how you install/subscribe to mods. On Steam, you visit the workshop and press "Subscribe" and the next time you play the game it'll automatically install it. If you bought it boxed, the
Skyrim Nexus requires you to install it yourself. Also, regardless of how you installed it, go to the "DATA FILES" menu in the game launcher and it lists all installed mods...just add a checkmark next to the ones you want to load with the game, then press PLAY.
You'll find more stuff on the Nexus than you will on Steam, but Steam generally has the higher-rated/higher-quality stuff.
Alot of the mods I'm using are essentially cheats because I played it through before and they're simply to speed up things (such as having a store owner teleport to you so you can offload/sell your crap whenever you need to...even mid-mission in a deep, dark dungeon) so I can't recommend them on your first playthrough.

For Mogul and Ryoki:
Here's my mod list (this list doesn't include specific quest/follower mods...just things that can greatly enhance your experience by making things prettier or removing annoying bullshit):
- Pocket Empire Builder = Create anything out of thin air when you put on the ring. Create your own fucking house with it if you want to, but I use it mainly to conjure up a workbench/enchant/alchemy table whenever I need to upgrade something right away. I also used it to create new bookshelf and storage furniture to hoard all my stuff properly (by Quest/Storyline/etc)
- Spend Dragon Souls For Perks = Perks are only unlocked when leveling up and, since the original game was locked at level 81, well...you get the point. After a while those dragon souls sitting in your inventory start piling up. This makes every dragon encounter worthwhile again. Oh and speaking of dragons...
- Endless Dragon Fights = Go to a section of the game world, pull the chain and kill dragons until you're sick of it or just need dragon bones/scales/souls. Then pull the chain again to stop the respawning dragons and continue your adventure.
- Water And Terrain Enhancment = Duh
- More Grass = Duh
- Increased Grass Density (150%) = Double Duh considering the "More Grass" isn't enough grass...for me at least.
- Lush Grass = Yeah so I like grass...so what you wanna fight about it?
- Birds and Flocks - Adds more
- Realistic Lighting & Colours
- Master Enchanter Gloves
- Instant Merchant = Teleports an annoyingly-voiced store owner to your location so you can sell your shit right then and there. She teleports home when you're done.
- Return Home = Instantly teleport your avatar and follower to your house instead of having to fast travel to your town and THEN run to your house just to enter and wait for the load. Great time saver.
- Multiple Followers Lite = Allows you to recruit as many followers as you want. But be careful as it can get really fucking crowded in some interiors/missions. Just take 2 or 3...unless you want an army.
- Real Glaciers = someone upgraded the ice textures with a bluish tint, looks better than the old grey tint
And get a follower/get married ASAP so that you have a mule and an ATM. If you marry a good fighter and make them your follower, you'll gain a mule, ATM and merchant all in one.
