Not trying to convince you but I regard Dark Souls as one of the best built games of the last generation of games. (xbox 360, yeah that's old now)

It did what other games won't do because they're too scared of how it'd affect their sales. There's so much lore and depth to that game that it's a shame people pass it over not knowing what they're missing.

The seamless multiplayer is another thing this game does so well. It's so good that I feel bad for gamers that don't play it... Yeah it's hard, but that feeling you get once you overcome a challenge is incredible and once you learn the art of combat in that game, and you will, you feel like a total badass. Until you run into the next enemy you've never seen before. Then it sends you back into a spiral of feeling helpless and childlike. I think it's that back and forth and the intensity of those changes that make it so good.

It's just that I now have a lazy, relaxed approach to playing video games. Demanding instant gratification with little effort.
And from what I understand DS is quite the opposite.
I understand how every victory is thus all the more sweet, but I just can't get into that whole sadomasochistic mindset.

After finishing both Far Cry 3 and Dishonored I have to say that Dishonored is a much better game than Far Cry 3. It's also much more satisfying, even on a replay.

When all was said and done, Far Cry 3 is just another version of Assassin's Creed...with all its heavy-handedness...just like every other Ubisoft game. "Open world" my ass.

Also...the ending you get if you decide to stay on the islands is THE MOST RETARDED ENDING IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING. My original ending had me leaving the islands, but I'd heard so much negativity about the "staying behind" ending I had to load a previous save and see it for myself. It's beyond terrible and features some of the worst, most dishonest writing I've ever seen in an "open ended" game.

I have no doubt the writers/editorial team were patting themselves on the back for that one...thinking they were being "edgy" and "Shakespeareian"...with none of them understanding why gamers would find it immensely stupid.

But I hear what you're saying. I went for the leave the island ending as well and YouTube'd the staying behind ending. I laughed at the very first comment on the video: "What if Jason shoots blanks?"
I severely enjoyed playing Far Cry 3 though. Especially liberating the camps was fun because there were a million and one ways to go about it. Might boot up Dishonored sometime though, but I find my Xbox 360's gravitational pull has diminished to nearly 0.

I never bothered finishing Rage, so I'll take your word for it. Fuck you, now I'm gonna YouTube it and see what I didn't really miss.

And yeah, liberating the camps is the bread and butter of Far Cry 3 and once all the camps are yours the only thing left to do is the extremely linear (and kinda boring) story missions. Some advice to anyone who's playing or about to play Far Cry 3: The minute you liberate the last enemy camp, start a new game or load a save from the point where you unlocked your first tower. It's really not worth playing after that.

You will thank me for it.
