Probably the same reason most unrepentant American idiots don't give a fuck...because he thought your country is a shitpile of human filth and it's not like you'd actually have listened anyways:
"If there is a country that has committed unspeakable atrocities in the world, it is the United States of America. They don't care for human beings."

- Nelson Mandela 2003
“What I am condemning is that one power, with a president who has no foresight, who cannot think properly, is now wanting to plunge the world into a holocaust. Why is the United States behaving so arrogantly? All that he wants is Iraqi oil.”

- Nelson Mandela 2003

I can't wait for all the stupid yanks on this forum who were cheering the Iraq war to tell us what a great person Nelson Mandela was. It should be hilarious.

I also dislike when people are elevated to sainthood and considered beyond reproach, especially even during their lifetime.
So I kind of get the irresistible troll opportunity Mandela's death provides for attention whores like Geoff.
And that the guy died at the ripe old age of 95 isn't the real tragedy; it's more that post-apartheid South Africa is still very much in a state disarray, and far from what he must have envisioned fighting for.

I agree with Plan B.

How many innocent people died at Mandela's hands? He was directly responsible for the deaths of women and children when his terrorist organization planted bombs in a South-African railway.

Or any of the other areas he took responsibility for bombing.

-Church Street West, Pretoria, on the 20 May 1983

-Amanzimtoti Shopping complex KZN, 23 December 1985

-Krugersdorp Magistrate’s Court, 17 March 1988

-Durban Pick ‘n Pay shopping complex, 1 September 1986

-Pretoria Sterland movie complex 16 April 1988 – limpet mine killed ANC terrorist M O Maponya instead

-Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court, 20 May 1987

-Roodepoort Standard Bank 3 June, 1988

Ehhh, thanks for agreeing kracus, but now feeling the need to dissociate myself a bit: I wasn't alluding to some "terrorist vs. freedom fighter" argument there, because I very much veer to the latter, regardless how Mandela's track record indeed proves he wasn't infallible.

He was a human being. Of course he wasn't infallible you fucking idiots.

That doesn't change the fact that he was a better human being than 99.999999% of humanity.

I feel like if you need to use violence to free yourself then you're just perpetuating a cycle that's bound to repeat itself.

lol fair point, but I'd argue self defense isn't a form of violence. The attacker instigated the violence, the defender is only responding appropriately.

In Mandela's case he may have been responding to violence against his people or group or whatever however in killing innocent people he stops being someone that's acting in self defense and becomes a terrorist and perpetrator of violence.

In using your analogy, it's like me going ahead and attacking some random stranger instead of fighting against you to defend myself.

In still using my analogy:

If that "random stranger" saw me violently rape you, and then just quickly walked on, thinking: "not my problem...doesn't concern me", you'd make fucking sure the next "random stranger" walking by helps you out, instead of ignoring your agony.
Even if you had to hurt him a bit.

Hey, I just thought he targeted government buildings in an effort to get people to the negotiating table. I also thought he did everything he could to reduce civilian casualties. From what I know he was the 1st man to cross the racial divide in Africa at a time in history that could have seen mass genocides. I don't necessarily buy into him being a saint, but I think he was a great man and that image could be dented if he did intentionally blow up innocent people even if he thought it was for the greater good, seeing as my opinion of him mainly comes from his moral values

Apartheid was a terrible, brutal and cruel law.
Nelson could have easily declared open season on the white people but chose instead to forgive but sadly 20 years later the ANC still chooses to blame Apartheid for their bumbling and corrupt running of the country.

South Africa sucks and it's going to get a lot more violent. The propoganda here lately is scary if your white.
Google Julius Malema , he is running for president and gaining support on his kill/get rid of all white people election manifesto.
The now president Jacob Zuma is a laughing stock of corruption, greed and plain old stupidity but he is losing support to Juju Malema.

South Africa is in Hell and soon going to Hell 2.0.

It seems to be the same everywhere.

When there are news reports on something like this, I wish they'd do a "required reading" section at the end for those who feel the need to express an opinion.
