nope: germany, uk, korea
Generally holds a lot of truth though, at least in most European countries.
But yeah, maybe better to get globally fascist about it, and say everything < 35°N latitude is bottom class.

EDIT: Or maybe a more scientifically precise cutoff point is wherever Geoff happens to live.

It means I know the people that sell it fairly well so we have an agreement. I'm guessing it's just harder to get in your area or the risk is greater, which also tends to mean the quality isn't as good...

In the Netherlands there's now talk about regulating the production of weed. Production is still illegal and being acted against by police and everything. There's a lot of criminality in the weed growing business and problems are getting bigger and bigger, so a number of mayors have called for regulated weed growing.

It think it's a great plan to have legal, state approved weed farms and have them pay taxes like any other company. Also tax the shit out of weed sales like they do with cigarettes and tobacco and you've got yourself a nice big fat pile of cash rolling in. Not only that, you can save big moneys on police having to bust down illegal weed farms who steal electricity to power their heat lamps. Various politicians have claimed that regulating weed production will make us anywhere from 500 million up to a billion euros a year.

Unfortunately, the Dutch government is against this plan for various juridical reasons. I think it's bullshit and it's probably due to them being afraid of what their European friends will think of it.

decriminalisation is a hopeless policy - a half-measure for politicians without the balls to do it properly, one way or the other
