so this missing plane thing

What's strange is how you drive a car that doesn't exist.

Re: so this missing plane thing
Well that's an assumption.
The reason why is that they tracked the flight hours after it stopped communicating which would be unusual if it wasn't hijacked. There's also the weird music and the fact that certain passengers were using fake passports. It's not entirely out of the question.

Weird music?

Probably something to do with international call rooting or is that routing

Re: so this missing plane thing
But as someone pointed out at work the other day.. how common are fake/stolen passports on other flights? That aspect could be completely irrelevant.Κracus wrote:The reason why is that they tracked the flight hours after it stopped communicating which would be unusual if it wasn't hijacked. Re: so this missing plane thing
It's pretty common, apparently. Air India flight that crashed in 2010 had 10 stolen passports amoung the 160 ? people that died and is usually put down to illegal immigration but cannot rule out terrorism, from what I've been seeing only a few countries check interpols database. They know the individuals with the stolen passports now n all and they haven't been labelled a threat yet.
I think it's this one -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Air_India_ ... Flight_812
I also thought the reports that the flight was tracked for hours after it went silent was bullshit ?, I was skeptical when the initital report said that the person giving this information wanted to remain anon because he wasn't able to speak on behalf of the military, who have already come out and said that they didn't track the flight ?. I think I also seen that this plane uploads diagnostic information in real time and nothing was out of the ordinary up until contact was lost n all but with that said, the search area has been widened so could be some truth in it. Would also assume that radar coverage was sketchy if they can't locate an exact position but everything points to some sudden failure, mechanical or terror and is somewhere at the bottom of the drink.

Re: so this missing plane thing
Not unless there was a failure with maintaining cabin pressure, everyone on board would have entered a state of hypoxia within a few seconds and the plane would have proceeded on autopilot.Κracus wrote:Well that's an assumption.

This-

and this -

But nothing suggests this so far, infact I think flights that have been hijacked or lost cabin pressure were still able to be tracked via the transponder / radar or whatever.

Sounds like the Shinese found 3 large floating objects off the south coast of Vietnam with their satellites. Might be it this time.

Vice
Stops you from sifting through shitty journalism.
There was another article doing the rounds earlier that an anon insider at Rolls Royce claimed they were receiving engine data hours after the plane went missing, Rolls Royce refused to comment cos they weren't leading the investigation which fueled more speculation and Malaysia Airlines have had to hold another presser to deny the reports
http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/m ... flew-hours
Even though they have denied that the military tracked the flight it does seem like they have widened the search area because of this, probably because they have the resources at their disposal and here's an article explaining the confusion -

http://www.malaysia-chronicle.com/index ... z2vj5oAkAZThe pro-government Berita Harian daily had quoted General Tan Sri Rodzali Daud (pic) as saying military radar at the Butterworth air force base believed it was tracking the Boeing 777-200ER jet until it disappeared at 2.40am last Saturday.
"I wish to state that I did not make any such statements as above. What occurred was that the Berita Harian journalist asked me if such an incident occurred as detailed in their story. However, I did not give any answer to the question.
"Instead, what I said to the journalist was, 'Please refer to the statement which I made on 9 March 2014, during the press conference with the Chief of Defence Forces at the Sama-Sama Hotel, Kuala Lumpur International Airport'," the Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) chief said in a statement late last night.
Hours after his statement was carried by the Malay daily, the Reuters news agency flashed a report quoting a military source as saying the RMAF had tracked the flight to the Strait of Malaccca which is one of the world's busiest shipping lanes.
But Rodzali's statement has only covered the Malay daily's report and did not mention the Reuters report.
"I request this misreporting be amended and corrected to prevent further misinterpretations of what is clearly an inaccurate and incorrect report," he said in his six-paragraph statement.

Re: so this missing plane thing
So we have WSJ standing by their original report claiming that the plane was sending out signals hours after they had lost contact, saying that it was Boeing not Rolls Royce receiving these signals as was reported, saying that unnamed White House representatives have confirmed this and Boeing are refusing to comment.
http://stream.wsj.com/story/malaysia-ai ... -2-479770/
Meanwhile the White House (Carney ?) has gone on to say that new information could place the plane in the Indian ocean, hours away from the last reported contact. Malaysia airlines have said that the report by WSJ is still inaccurate and no contact was received beyond what they have already said (1.07AM?), don't think they have responded to the White House comments yet.
Someones lying ?
Possibly reading between the lines, I read a report that no new information was sent out by the plane, but instead 'pings' were sent to the satellite ready to transmit data but because they didn't subscribe to a better package information would not have been sent. The data indicated the engines were running whilst this was happening.
ABC are reporting about the 2 separate shutdowns, the data transmission and then the transponder saying manual intervention and not a failure is likely, it could be this report that the White House were referring too when they said they were expanding the search area. The article also mentions what the WSJ claims about the plane flying for hours after losing contact, saying that they were told earlier that the plane possibly flew for 4 or 5 hours but are now saying that this might not be accurate, hinting that the plane was still airborne for some time.
http://abcnews.go.com/International/us- ... d=22894802
Again Malaysia airlines either deny or are not willing to respond to this, it depends what they were referring to when they said the plane had sent out no new information after 1.07

ABC and WSJ are both unnamed sources but are meant to be 'reliable', I find it interesting that the White House appear to be taking it seriously though and that Malaysia airlines deny or are unable to comment about it and are continuing to focus on the South China sea.I would like to refer to news reports suggesting that the aircraft may have been flying for some time after the last contact. Those reports are inaccurate. The last transmission from the aircraft was at 01.07, which indicated everything was normal. Rolls-Royce and Boeing teams are here in Kuala Lumpur and have worked with MAS and the investigation teams since Sunday. This issue has never been raised … Since today’s media reports MAS has asked Rolls-Royce and Boeing specifically about the data. As far as Rolls-Royce and Boeing are concerned those reports are inaccurate.
