Haven't read all of this text that, if you scroll fast enough, appears to blink in red and green, but red font guy appears to argue that innovation is evil if it's done with the intention of making money? Oh my god, it's almost as if Valve is a commercial company! *shock*

just finished the game on hard. The whole environment was really well conceived, and the physics were pretty cool. Amazing audio experience too. Are parts 2 and 3 as good?

2 has some great moments and movement, combat, and gameplay are refined. Like Memph said, it definitely leans towards action rather than the survival horror style of the original. Still a solid game though. Haven't even bothered playing 3, looks bland.

I thought the first installment already hinged too much towards action as you progressed further into the game.

The third game had some really, really creepy atmospheric sets. Unfortunately, not utilized anywhere near to their potential. Still overall an excellent game though.

cool, will get deadspace 2.
On that note, how do I buy it? Do I have to get it through steam or origin? Is there a version I can buy that I can just play standalone?

Why not just get it on Steam unless you want a physical copy for some reason? It requires Origin to play no matter where you get it from.

You could buy it on steam then download it so you don't need to log in.

just bought it off origin. This whole steam/origin stuff is wholly confusing to me. Don't really understand it all. All I know is that when I run deadspace, origin opens. Means nothing to me - i could give a fuck about origin or steam. Just interested in the game. But it is on my harddrive, so I guess that's what counts.

It's about DRM and online services. Probably in that order.

Well done
I quite liked the pace of both, there was also an animation film that followed what happened before the opening scene of Deadspace

For GalCiv 3 n all - This was posted up on their forums
There's been lots of questions regarding the development schedule of GalCiv III. Below is our *tentative* schedule for the game:
March 2014: Alpha 1
(the version you have now along with some minor updates)
April 2014: Alpha 2
(this version will begin to address early feedback and some new UI improvements, tech tree changes, ideology tree changes)
May 2014: BETA 1!
(This version is when the Founder Elite Edition goes away and is replaced by the normal, $49.99 game which is expected to be priced at a discount. So those people who don't like the $99 Founder Elite Edition who just want GalCiv III and would like to get it early and at a discount, this is the version you'll want.)
June 2014: BETA 1A
(this version is expected to bring in the Shipyard -- the in game ship designer amongst other things)
August 2014: BETA 2
(Diplomacy, Trade, Influence victories, culture, more in depth economics)
October 2014: BETA 3
(The Fleet Combat screen)
Beyond this point: Polish, Tweaking, Fixing, repeat.
Expected final release is 2Q2015 (April through June).

fuck sake, turns out deadspace 2 now has this thing called DLC (downloadable content), and they patched the game so you get all the weapons and suits for free at the first store you encounter in chapter. Basically they've forced you to play with all the DLC without having to earn it through gameplay. Completely ruins the experience, and because I downloaded it from origin I don't think I can unpatch it. What the fuck has happened to gaming these days?

it's not as simple as that. Now that you have access to all the ammo that you shouldn't have, random ammo drops will give you ammo that you shouldn't have. Not to mention there is no resource management required to upgrade to a new suit/weapons, as they are now FUCKING FREE. I'm fucking pissed off - haven't been this angry for a long time.

Can't remember with the 2nd, but I think with the 1st the DLC wasn't items found in the original game ?. I remember tip toeing around the add on guff trying to find the unlockable content ?

Ha, I beat the game with a cracked copy when it first came out, then bought it on Steam for $5 a couple years later. Sounds pretty shitty how the "DLC" ruins a first playthrough.

so apparently nowadays you can pay to download extra content and become more powerful. Apparently this extends to some multiplayer games also. What a fucking travesty. All that time spent game testing during development all for nothing.
Anyway, bought deadspace 2 a SECOND time, this time from steam so I could apply the old steam wrapped exe file to unpatch the game. Works perfectly now with no DLC bullshit.

are you using a controller? cause i found the controls dismal with mouse/keyboard.. it just never felt right, and couldn't adjust much of anything, so I gave up on it... this was years ago.
