You know when a solar panel generates electricity? Yes, when the sun is up, during day time. And when is a parking lot filled up with cars? Oh, yeah, during day time. So there you are, wasting 90% of the solar panel surface because it doesn't catch any sunlight.

Cars in a parking lot spaced with 90% coverage of the surface would never be able to drive out of said parking lot.
My guess for a typical parking lot would have cars parked over 25% or less of it's surface area.

We don't need solar roadways. We can put solar panels in and on buildings and elsewhere.

I can see them possibly doing some private/commercial business for high end attractions so that's cool.

How is a clean and renewable energy source that only leaves a carbon footprint through production more environmentally costly than coal, gas, and nuclear?
