can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
EDL think Islam is about to take over Britain, so they make facebook pages and tweets about it, and go on the occasional poorly-attended march at which they are outnumbered by 'anti-fascists' and police. in recent years they've dropped out of the limelight because the libbrel meeja's collective jimmies were rustled first by UKIP (who actually did something instead of just whinging on social media like a bunch of pasty faggots), then by Israel's Gaza shenanigans, before finally returning to its default setting of whining about the Tories
Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
fair enough

Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
Did anyone else notice that 6 Euros in a row telling geoff to get fucked actually shut him the fuck up? Astounding.
Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
Sounds like your version of Geert Wilders' PVV.seremtan wrote:EDL think Islam is about to take over Britain, so they make facebook pages and tweets about it
Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
EDL is a bit more extreme and overtly racist, UKIP is more like their version of the PVV i think.

Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
but without the Islamophobia
to be fair to Mr Bouffant, when he says Islam isn't a 'religion of peace' (whatever that means) and gets death threats from, uh, Muslims because of it, you kinda see his point. Can't imagine the Archbishop of Canterbury pronouncing a fatwa on someone for saying Jesus was gay

Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
Careful now, not all Muslims are equally err... Muslim.
So you have an angry white man generalizing all Muslims into one single pile of violent and hateful people, then gets death threats from Muslim extremists and then proceeds to use that as proof to validate his statement.
There is more than one thing wrong with that.

Re: can we talk about EDL? what's the story?
i'm pretty sure he was validating his statement with things like 9/11, routine beheadings in Saudi Arabia, the fatwa against Rushdie etc etc, and he reserves his 'hate speech' for Islam itself, not Muslims
obviously these are the work of a minority as you rightly say; then again, not all Mongols burned Baghdad to the ground and slaughtered everyone; not all Catholics burned heretics at the stake; not all Christians bomb abortion clinics; not all Jews (or Israelis) raze Gazan schools to the ground with precision munitions... i'm sure you can figure out where i going with this
