British humour is often quite racist anyway but not in a nasty way.

racism is bullshit. It's just people getting too easily offended who got upset over those things.

They insult Americans all the time and we still watch them. Quite a bit. Not just these guys, but I feel British humor in general.

In before stoopid 'Merica jokes. Unless they're about Geoff. His stereotypicalness is ruining it for all of us.

Cause you have a million-viewer show doesnt make you a god that can abuse people that work with you. Fuck that Clarkson. (although I really enjoyed Top Gear)

I loved this show and honestly it's because of Clarkson. It doesn't make what he did ok but sacking him wasn't the right choice. I think a financial penalty and an apology would have sufficed. What they did instead was ruin a show for millions of viewers and ruin many peoples careers in the process. They could have ended Top Gear in a completely different light or replaced Clarkson with someone else more gradually.

Instead, they took their prize product, shoved a butcher knife it's in ass and suddenly developed a bout of aggressive parkinsons disease.

I'll likely follow whatever Clarkson does next, they won't be bought by Netflix, BBC still has the rights to the show and they say they intend to keep making Top Gear episodes but I doubt I'll be watching more than the first one to see them fall flat on their face.

Theres reports that the exec producer is following the 3 in an exit now n all and were seen having a meal together.

More reports saying he's been offered contracts from ITV, SKY and Netflix, with Netflix offering full control over a new motoring show

Can't see how TG will survive.

Clarkson and Wilman were childhood friends weren't they? Makes sense they'd stick together.

Half of the appeal of TopGear is the way it's filmed, without Wilman and co it's going to be very difficult for them to match the current show.

Talking to Mrs syp0s about this, as she's an IP solicitor, and she says that since Jeremy has become so synonymous with motoring, and that Top Gear has become so synonymous with Jeremy, there's a very good chance that they could just import the entire format to another channel, even if they don't have the rights to. He's invested so much of his career into Top Gear that he can assert a certain amount of ownership to the format.

There would be a court case, but the outcome would likely result in only minor tweaks to the format.

My prediction is that the three of them go to Sky and do challenge episodes, perhaps mixing in celebrities who come along for the ride.

Clarkson owns a share of the show iirc which makes this even more complicated.

I'm sure we'll soon see "Motoring with Clarkson, Hammond and May" on Netflix or whatever tho.

If the report is true tho, hard to just fine him and ask for an apology. He really was over the top over nothing.

I was thinking more of a suspension and a fine, that would've let May and Hammond finish up with this series, carry on with the live shows then carry on as normal next year. Him and his mother did a lot for the beeb throughout both their lives, she died last year and he's currently going through a 'difficult' divorce after a long relationship, so some say he's gone off the rails a bit.

Osin just wanted him to undertake an anger management course and taking everything into consideration I would've liked the BBC to stand by him but yea, after what he done it's not surprising.

I hadn't heard anything about him owning a portion of the show either, surprising if he does.

I don't think he can own the show, as it's BBC, which means it's owned by the public. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly certain no BBC shows are in private ownership.

In 2012, BBC Worldwide paid £8.4 million for Clarkson’s stake in a joint venture which had owned the commercial rights to Top Gear. Clarkson had received dividends - £4.86 million in 2012 - as a co-owner of the company, Bedder 6.
Under the terms of the new contract, Clarkson now receives a seven-figure fee from BBC Worldwide and the corporation owns the rights to the Top Gear format, name and intellectual property.
Not quite as simple as 'he owns it' but he has both his hands in the coffer

Ahh Worldwide is a ltd company and only owns the rights to the live shows / DVDs / merchandise n stuff and not the actual show, the BBC bought his share a few yrs back iirc when they negotiated his last contract. Clarkson (with Wilman) set up a company to exploit commercial avenues like live shows and DVDs, then the BBC bought into it by transfering merchandising and copyrights, it was done to boost his paycheck without the use of licence fee money. From the sounds of it, Clarksons BBC contract was tied in with BBC worldwides contract when he sold the commercial rights from bedder 6.

Worldwide is a seperate entity which is why they're in negotiations with the beeb atm to try and and get Clarkson back onto the live shows, they could just pull the BBC branding. Worldwide will take a huge hit from Clarksons departure.

On the Top Gear FB page with the story that was released today, one of the top comments says something like, "I only watch the show ffor te dynamic of the three hosts, I don't even like cars that much".

As much as i love the cars, as much as at times i do enjoy the stunts and etc, Thats the main reason why I've always watched the show.... And the whole reason i cant stand the other variants of topgear.

Hatred comments everywhere

And the Hamster's response

"Both hosts have updated their Twitter bios: Hammond's reads "Can't explain it really ... er, I do this car show and stuff," and May's says "Former TV presenter only remembered for saying 'Oh cock'." :olo: :olo:

If that is the case, I would assume he recently added 'Former' to his title.
