Whiskey 7, honestly I'd say we all came out pretty ok. Homes, families, fancy pool projects, photography and other hobbies etc.. You'd think a group of nerds would end up with a few nut jobs or something. But after 20 years I think my biggest takeaway is how normal and well adjusted this group actually is.

Yeah might be a survivorship bias.

Been a long ride :olo: I signed up here under the user ID {Rampage} back when Q3test came out, which I think was something like September '99. I remember staying up until midnight or some crap to download the executable file, and then flying around an early version of dm17. And yeah I am pretty sure that was on 56k :dts:

Had a couple hiatuses from this forum, but always came back. Spent a lot of time in level editing and a bit in the programming forums. Had some good memories talking level design theory with a bunch of guys... some real talent came out of those forums back in the day. There are too many names to remember but I can remember djbobbles, Foo, inolen, evil_lair, hell so many others. The names don't stick but some real talent. I remember actually being approached by a guy at Blizzard looking for level designers, because he saw one of my maps. He actually sent me his copy of D2:LOD Battle.net Beta CD in the mail, lol. It ended up going nowhere but I believe this was in preparation for what was to become WoW. I think that was probably early 2000's... 2003 or something. I released a few maps, none of them I would call particularly stellar but had a ton of fun learning the craft and just being creative, and learning the ins and outs of the engine and the game code. I remember back in those days, R&R was hot shit, back then it was the "cool" forum. Lot of weird shit went on in there. I actually remember specifically avoiding GD back in the day but that was when this site had probably 100x as much traffic.

Still haven't made it to 10k posts >:(
