I suppose that your copy-pasting didn't turn up the fact that the Japanese have one of the world's highest rates of oesophageal cancer, so much so that they're the only country which feels the need to do screening endoscopies? Thought not.
They eat a lot of fish though. Quote from Rising Sun: "If I want to eat mercury, I'll swallow a thermometer."

I tried finding the source of that quote, and found this:

http://www.veginfo.org/health.php

I was curious as to seeing clinical studies that proved this, as I find it hard to imagine a clinical study being able to do so effectively.

The page i linked to has a reference number, but there are NO FUCKING REFERENCES.

The page said that it got the article from PCRM (Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine), so I went there, and did a search for the article (using the exact phrase search to be sure).

http://www.pcrm.org/search/?site=0&path ... tion=exact

Nothing turned up, so I went to the clinical research area of the page.

http://www.pcrm.org/health/clinres/

There were three articles, none of which dealt with cancer. The first of them was a review paper that didn't have any references! The only one that had references was the second one, but even that was a review paper that looked like it had been written by a college student.

Here is the opening sentences of the third paper (which consists of four small paragraphs):
Overweight is increasingly common in the United States.
So, my question is: where are these clinical studies - not saying they don't exist - i'd just like to review them.

Opera is a mega-conglomerate?! That's it. Funniest quote of the night.
Opera owns significant holdings in 57% of companies in the fortune 500, while managing and operating 207 child companies that span geographical regions such as China, Spain and South Africa and industries as diverse as sand-oil refining in the Artic circle of Canada and first rate advertisement agencies on 5th avenue. If that doesn't make Opera a mega-fucking-conglomerate than either you're a stupid retard or a shitfuck pulling my leg so hard that it's retardedly stupid.

Rising Sun is openly racist, so you'd expect them to get that wrong. It's actually thought to be nitrosamines in fish that do it. I was just pointing out that randomly throwing out these epidemiological "facts" is a bit pointless, especially when they compare two completely different populations. It's like saying that eating plantain gives you sickle cell.....

Opera owns. I've got a plethora of useful quotes in Opera Notes, easily accessed by clicking the Notes panel.
Quote your references. There's people on the internet who claim to eat nothing but light, you twat.

On a similar note, a mediteranean diet has been proved to be beneficial. This is not just epidemiology; it's been tried in different ethnic groups. See the BMJ for details

See? It's easy to provide references. MEDline is free to use for all; and you're still copy-pasting stuff which seems to agree with you with no attempt to actually critique your sources.

Some molds that grow on fruits and grains produce toxins that can kill you so, yes, eat it and die! :)

Not will.

Might increase your odds, depending on amounts, types, etc.

What are these scientific journals and references you speak of? They might have made my graduate career and grant writing days much easier...

erm, you didn't know about PubMed?

Not much there on the vegan diet though.

Err hang on, was that irony? Just finished my night shift and the filter's a bit out of whack :paranoid:

It was sarcasm. :paranoid:

And yea, I used to use PubMed all the time. Still use it for my own reference, but not in the same manner as I did during graduate school.

Hadn't really noticed anyone using it in the wrong context. :)
