I would actually try Opera if the screenshots of the Mac version weren't so fucking ugly that they erased my retinas, making it impossible to click the download link.

You can change it to however you want it to look. The top rated skins are generally bogus, so you really have to look to find the good ones, much like when you're browsing for Winamp skins, you have to sift through a lot of shit to find the gold.

A good set of skins to start with: Breeze, Dark Tofu, Dimmed Skin, Flat Skin (My current), and of course Odyssey.

You can customize the way the browser looks more than any other browser on the planet. It can be the most minimal (visual) browser, but still retain the functionality through mouse gestures and shortcuts.

the only problems you described that i suffer under firefox is that occasionally there is a pause (0.3-0.5 seconds) when i open a new tab, and having two or three extremely image-heavy sites open at the same time does start to lag the browser a little, but the same seems to happen on IE or when simply opening programs like winamp or MSN. i put it down to being my shitty computer, since FireFox runs smooooth on everything else i've used.

Yep, any speed difference is barely noticable if at all. Plus Opera is only of the very few to charge for ad free service. Even the huge corporate dominating IE is free. Opera only charges because there are a few really ignorant people that will pay for an internet browser. Sorry guys, the internet was supposed to be free, I'll be fucked if I pay for the browser too.

P.S. IF at all, it's only marginally better than FF. So little so that it hardly makes sense to pay almost $40 for it.
