My monitor has a contrast level ov 700:1 and I haven't noticed any problem with black levels. I just got it and I'm still amazed how damn good this monitor is. Might be because my old CRT was very very tired though :icon30:

ALL lcd's range from either so-so to horrible black levels. they don't deliver true blacks.

dell 2001fp, great deal (also one of the few that does 1600x1200). They have a coupon for $100 or so off on them every month.

Yea, but apparently that one has a 16 ms response time...you notice ghosting with it?

the 2100fp that i saw on dell's website is widescreen...at least it looks that way to my untrained eye.

God...I really don't know what to do at the moment. The Hyundai LD90+ got great reviews on newegg's website from everyone who bought it, as well as great reviews on the gaming forum someone linked to here. The only issue I see is that a few people had some dead pixels on theirs when they arrived, and newegg's return policy for monitors is 8 or more dead pixels minimum...same thing with hyundai's. I don't want to take a chance on annoying dead pixels, especially considering the battle I am having with sony right now over my PSP.

I'm almost tempted to spend more money and just get one at best buy or something in town, where I can more easily take it back if it has any problems.

Has anyone here had any experience with LG monitors?

Get a Dell tnf.. if you get a coupon (which pop up all the time) I think you can get a 20" widescreen for about $400

Oh and I have a 24" dell with no ghosting at all.. I dont know how similar their 20 is to their 24, but mine is excellent. the only problem is that it's a little bright out of the box so i had to tweak the hell out of it

Why is it that Apple people profess the product they own is top notch and awesome, when it really isn't?

"This Mac Mini is fucking incredible! I don't care if there are faster PCs. Who wants a PC? Only jerks like PCs. Oh, yeah, just a little cream on top of that frapomocochino, Claudia. Thanks.

Oh, sorry... Hang on... You're breaking up. Can you, oh. Okay you can hear me alri--- anyway, my Mac Mini is pretty sweet. It, hold up I'm getting in my car, just gotta get buckled up and take a... Oh that's good stuff. You should try this out, it's only $3.50 this week for a tall. Nonononono, it's the frapomocochino. Yeah, frap-O-moc-O-chin-O. Exactly. Sweet, eh? It has chocolate twists lining the top if you request to not have a lid put on. Yeah, $3.50, or I... Oh that idiot charged me $3.50 and on the receipt it says this week $3.00. Oh well.

You still on for tonight? I can't wait to see who she fires, either. Imagine that. From the slammer to laying down the hammer. What? Oh I know! Yeah. She did? Hah! I still think she was set up by her accountants."

Why is it rep insists on professing the virtues of OLED when:
1) it's not out for a "year" (I'll believe that when I see it)
2) the price is going to be through the roof despite the lack of a backlight keeping the price down because all manufacturers just about try to recoup their development costs on first gen hardware costs no matter what they cost to build.

Oh and as far as "Apple" people professing the superior value of their own products:

I have a 4-year old Dell with absolutely no dead pixels.

DVI is essential. It's like CD player vs. tape deck.

Try to play a game on an older LCD screen. I haven't seen "ghosting" in my entire life. Maybe your eyes are as slow as mine.

Yeah, there's no reason to go VGA when there's DVI available.

As far as these rods and cones are concerned, ghosting has never been an issue; more of a problem with them looking like ass if you're not running native resolution.
