This is just like Quake 3 and Quake 2 combined. A bit to colourful at times, i.e. the huge hud (Do people not make games on big monitors?)

Does anybody know these maps? New? Remade oldies?
I've actually played it, and I simply couldn't get over the colorful, haphazard art style, the "floaty" player movement, the lack of feedback and "oomph" in the (waay too spammy) weapons, and the sluggish vehicle controls.

The map reminds me of an old Charon or Lunaran map (can't remember which), which is nice.

You have played it?

Damn i was kinda hoping they would have the physics nailed down. I wanted this to take off and have a lot of people move from Quake 3 to this because of how much they share.

Looking from the video, its exactly Quake 3 at times. The spinning items are ripped right from Quake 3, only better looking. The jump pads, the jumpING, etc etc...

I thought it might turn into a spammy weapon game, Raven always does do that because they like energy based weapons in their game. Plus, Quake 2 was a bit spammy with its projectile based weapons. Here, we have a lot of "spammy" weapons combined, so yeah its only obvious that it will turn out that way.

I hope not though :( I want to be surprised. Its already surprised me with how nice it looks, and how fast and fluid it seems to play.

Have you seen the Q4 pics or not? Its not like Quake 4's weapons are "small".

Nice to see they haven't learned their lesson and continue to use the booger gun in every release.

yes i just looked at the q4 screens, and ut2k7 looks 1000x better. it's just this 'giant-weapons-and-player-model-armour' cliche that epic are pushing to the limit. if the weapon in that shot is just a middling weapon i hate to think how big the redeemer will be

UT2k7 WOULD look better. Quake 4 is aimed at lower end hardware THIS YEAR, and can run just fine on hardware out now and in the past.

UT2k7 looks STUNNING but look at what they have. HDR, soft per pixel shadows, high poly models and a fantastic physics system. Not to mention the fact their skins are 2048x2048 and over x4 at least. Of course it will look good :D

Doom 3/Quake 4 dont even have BLOOM, lol.

Well, UT2007 is still at least a year away, and Q4 is out in November, so you can't really compare them.

HDR is shit at the moment. who the fuck wants to run a game without AA? my opinion anyways.

Oh Wow. That looks fantastic. Quake 3 with better eye candy. That's all I wanted anyway.

*sniff* So happy.

lol, cunts, they whould of put a spoiler warning in there... At least a little one...

Anyways, I just noticed that when the guy is selecting his model, you see Stroggified Kane, and he looks, well, like a right cunt, lol :p just like the normal orange guys, only with Kanes head, and no mask :| Hmmm...

Also if you slowly forward the frames, you can see all the new weapon models, i.e. the GL and hyper blaster. They look nothing like past weapons, not even like they did in Q2... Odd...

What kind of idiot was driving during that gameplay video? All he did was fall off walls and walk into boxes. No attempting q3-style movements to show how the physics worked or anything.

The game does look good though, and I'm looking forward to seeing more about it.

But why the 'sawblade shooter' gun?
