I thought I'd try again.

I uninstalled QIII and wanted to start from scratch. I followed all the instructions in my posts' replies and there's still some stuff I'm stuck on.
I gave 1.32 a quick test, and I get booted to 'spectator' every time I die. This is with Punkbuster activated btw.
Last time i tried Quake 3 I used the all seeing eye. I try to only use the servers that are in my country (UK) for ping reasons. When on 1.32 it seems all UK rooms in ASE are running on 1.31... With a quick version switch I was back on 1.31, Ironiclly then after, all UK servers are in 1.32
Alot of the maps are in red, even after an automatic download I still don't end up entering the room due to an error (one different every time) That was the other thing, even given that a room is 1.32 when I'm on 1.32 the map is red (meaning I don't have it as far as I know) Which is why I activated auto download but even after a map is downloaded alot of the time I can't get in.
I'll keep trying stuff but any help is great. Cheers!
Dan.

Download this
http://www.evenbalance.com/downloads/pbweb.exe
Place it in "quake III arena/pb" and run it TWICE.

Not all servers have autodownload enabled. What should get you going is downloading OSP, CPMA and RA3. Use the search function on the forum to find the downloadlinks

Cheers, I'm just running PBWEB now I'll try playin quake 3 again tomorrow. I'm confused on downloading maps. I'm not sure how it works, what are OSP, CPMA and RA3. Are they maps or programs to find maps automatically? Thanks.

They are the most played modifications of the game.

I couldnt find any links in the quake 3 world search so I tried google. All the OSP links are now forbidden

I've had a search around and found some links to downloads, are these what I should be looking for?
http://www.gamecloud.com/servers.php?game_id=2
http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/quake ... ?mode=maps
When searching for anything on Q3arena.com I got the message of internal service error (yeesh)
But the links above were the closest I could find in looking for OSP etc in a google search.

Strange, the OSP site seems to be down as you said. Here's a link to the fileplanet download, you'll have to register I'm afraid and may have to wait in line a bit. I'll keep digging and see if I can find a better link.

Well OSP isn't a map, it's a mod that does have maps. Anyway, when you download maps if it's in a .rar or .zip file extract the .pk3 out of it into the /Quake III Arena/baseq3 folder. You can then normally access it in the skirmish menu or by typing /map mapname in the console. Of course you type in the actual mapname instead of 'mapname'. Usually it's the same as the name of the pk3.
edit: If you download it as a .pk3 then just move it to the same folder I mentioned above.
