Now THAT was what I'm talking about! GG Massa! Not the most exciting race overall, but a fantastic drive by Massa and good strategy by Ferrari. Valencia is a sweet track, reminiscent of Monaco but not as cramped (or as wealthy).
Well qualified and run on Vettel's part, I'd like to see what he can do in a real car. Nice to see Toyota making some progress, finally.
Big thumbs down to Williams and Rosberg, looks like they've stalled out completely in their development. Don't know if that's due to the car or the driver.

Shit luck for Kimi (not that I did anything but laugh), Ferrari need to sort out that engine reliability issue and quickly. I don't know if Kimi needs to drink less or a whole lot more, but he's just lost the plot as of late.

nice quali session from mclaren for sure, hambone just needs to keep massa from going hungary on his ass, and i think he gets the win.
especially if it rains; in that case massa will probably do his usual job of sucking hardcore and leave the door open for someone to surprise their way up the order.
every race i'm more impressed by vettel and more convinced that the renault engine is rubbish.
Alonso is the only guy that can squeeze any thing competitive out of that lump and the RBR vs STR performances showing that the ferrari power in the STR is apparently far superior.

From what I understand, the dispute is about Hamilton going off the race track to overtake Kimi, and apparently you're not allowed to go off the track, overtake and rejoin the track. I just don't get it, surely there must be clearly defined rules that each driver is aware of? Which would mean hamilton should know not to do that. How can there be grey areas in driving rules, especially something as straight forward as where you can drive, in a sport where millions are invested?

Well think about the chicane right after the tunnel on Monaco. If you could just blast right through it on the pavement, what's the point of having it? Besides, all drivers know that cutting the track results in a stop-go penalty.

That's a shit way to win, even if it does hand Massa the lead in the championship. But, the drivers ALL know that if you gain a position by short-cutting a chicane or the like, the MUST give the spot back. Hamilton really deserved that win after catching and passing Kimi, then having enough sense and car control to not put it into the wall like a certain foolish Finn I could mention. FUCKING LOL!

everyone also knows that if you give the position back it's not a penalty

I heard something on the radio today about that, apparently you're meant to do that after going off track to overtake.

This is what I think why the stewards decided to levy the penalty.

If Hamilton had not cut across the chicane, he certainly would not be in a position to pass Raikkonen at the La Source hairpin, even though he did give the position back on the front straight. In fact, he’d probably lose a lot of time (that’s generally the case after such failed pass attempt). So by cutting across the chicane, he gained an advantage in terms of position and the effect it had on Raikkonen.

Of course, it’s never good to overturn race results like this as it can be very damaging to the sport; they could’ve put it down as a racing incident and move on. Besides, if Hamilton had not cut across the chicane, he’d most likely collide with Raikkonen. But then again, they probably felt that they don’t want to be setting a precedent here for acceptable behavior and passing maneuver.

The entire episode is just unfortunate, not only for Hamilton, but for F1 as well, and if I were Massa, I’d gain no satisfaction winning a race in this way. If Massa ends up winning the WDC by just a few points over Hamilton, there will always be a question mark over it just because of this incident.

but then hamilton went off road later on in the lap to avoid an accident, giving kimi back the lead by quite a few car lengths before he managed to spin out and give hamilton back the position...

so he pretty much gave the lead back twice... and kimis double defensive manoeuvre, which never got investigated, also the speed he gathered up off the racing track, in the access road to hop up hamiltons arse, which is questionable....

I’m not sure about Raikkonen’s double defensive maneuver, but both Hamilton and Raikkonen went off the track together at Pouhon. Hamilton was able to get back on the track quickly, while Raikkonen decided to drive it all the way around on the shoulder.

But that’s all after the fact. Judging from the onboard footage from Hamilton’s car, I think he could have not cut the chicane (or at least not as blatant), but he'd certainly lose a lot of time if he had not. If that's what he did (not cutting the chicane), the two drivers would not be that close together fighting that hard on the penultimate lap, so the actions we saw on that lap probably would not have happened.
