Look, we've explained why we would use a red dot. What else do you need? Just because something doesn't seem right for you, doesn't mean it's not good for someone else.Scourge wrote:Well in my experience with shotguns, sighting on the bead is pretty damn fast anyway. about 1/2 a sec after hitting the shoulder. I do understand that you might prefer the red dot. But I don't see how that will help you in a home invasion

Oh, my gun will be of no use in a home invasion, seeing as how I store it in a gun safe in the security office at the university I work for. But that is fine with me since I don't live in a shitty neighbourhood nor dwell in a world of paranoia.Scourge wrote:Well in my experience with shotguns, sighting on the bead is pretty damn fast anyway. about 1/2 a sec after hitting the shoulder. I think your biggest problem here is that you are thinking in terms of scatter shot, whereas I am thinking in terms of slug placement. One needs much better aim with the latter than the former. Even 00 shot would only get the bears attention--some folks do use buckshot as their first round for antibear loadouts in order to bring it to a halt or slow it down for better placement of the slugs that follow. I decided that I want full stopping power from load one, and so walk the alpine and tundra with nothing but 3" slugs.

Just giving my side of it is all. It's called a discussion. You give your opinion, I give mine. If you can't handle that I'll drop it. Even though I already said I can understand preference for the dot. I'm explaining why I think it's unnecessary.YourGrandpa wrote:Look, we've explained why we would use a red dot. Ok, we've got your side. Actually, we got your side 3 or 4 posts ago. The fact that you contiuned to rattle on, would give one an opinion that you are emphatically arguing your point. Not simply expressing your opinion. I don't think your opinion is wrong. However, your original question was, "Why in the hell would you need a laser sight on a fucking shotgun?". I think we explained that.Scourge wrote: Just giving my side of it is all. It's called a discussion. You give your opinion, I give mine. If you can't handle that I'll drop it.
