Yeah, that was a metric fuckton of loot that Skylar stashed, like to find that in an auction on Storage Wars. I thought the way he left Jesse all the money he owed him was great, but that's not surprising given that Walt's cancer is back. At least, they sure made it look that way, what with the scan and the bashed-in paper towel dispenser in the bathroom.

I'm really surprised he would leave a book from Gus in his bathroom. I know it was explicitly from Gus, but I'd still be too paranoid about it. Even weirder after having killed him.

According to someone else-
The paper towel dispenser is the same one that Walt originally punched. He didn't do it again. After he destroyed it originally, there was blood all over it. This time it was totally clean. Paper towel dispensers are not high on the list of things to replace in hospitals, so it's never been fixed.

so it reminded him all the shit he had to go through, and what he was fighting for in the first place...

I had forgotten about him destroying the dispenser earlier, I thought it was odd that they didn't show him doing it. Still, as PrMink pointed out, no scene is ever filmed without a very good reason. It was my wife that thought that Walt's cancer was back, a hunch on her part at first, but the dispenser and Walt's behavior solidified it. I think it's back, but it was interesting to read that interview with Vince Gilligan wherein he states that he and the writers really only have the broad strokes of the end of the series.

How do they get away calling it 1 season when it's a year apart?

Of course the cancer is back... the prolepsis in the opening sequence back in the season premiere shows him taking his cancer meds.

I know I'm late, but I just watched S05E08. Breaking Bad is definitely a good TV show, but I really don't think that it's worthy of being compared to The Wire.

Anyway, that final cliffhanger was lame. It just doesn't make sense that Walter would leave that book in the bathroom, that's just retarded.

Walt had that book on his nightstand, you can see it in the episode where he gets the watch from Jesse and takes it off before sleep. Maybe not he put the book in the stack in the bathroom but somebody else....why ever.
At least Hank was in the right place and had his pants already down when he got this eye-opener. He must have shat quite a brick...

As far as I can remember, Walter found the book when he was unpacking the boxes when he was moving back in. When he saw it, he put it on the nightstand. Then they foreshadowed this by showing the book already in the bathroom at least once before the scene with Hank.

One thing I noticed is they seem to be foreshadowing that Marie is pregnant in the penultimate scene of season 8.

Marie says shes taking pre-natal vitamins because her hair dresser told her it would be good for her hair. In the background, Squeeze's Up the Junction can be heard. She is drinking wine though so I could be wrong.

Still early to be predicting but watching the last season I was thinking...

The beginning situation was Walt had cancer and wanted to leave his family with money. Shit happens. Fast forward to the last episode, Walt has a ton of money and by the scans it seems the cancer may be back. I've been hoping for a climactic ending, but is it possible that the cancer gets Walt, but he succeeds in his goal of leaving his family well off?

Early in the series this might have been noble, but at this point in the series we would be left with a large moral dilemma. He set up his family, but was the wake of death he left worth that?
