I never watch the previews, too many spoilers.

And why would they show a preview for the next season? Did you read "episode" instead of "season" in my post?

They wrapped it up pretty well. I'm satisfied. I like how they left it with a clean slate for next season. Fresh start will be good for the show...

Not quite a clean slate: Quinn has his suspicions, even if he may leave it alone because he owes Dexter one. I'm not sure how getting Quinn off a murder charge balances out half a dozen actual murders committed by Dex, though.

fitting really, as it was pretty much a bullshit season.

the writing has really suffered this season. i honestly cringed when i saw jordan standing outside dexters crashed car. i think they need to stop trying to put one main vilain at the center of the show, with a full season revolved around it - sorry dexter, but you are simply not going to beat the trinity killer. i like jonny lee miller as an actor, but compared to trinity, he was just pathetic. very little emotional depth as a character and i never cared about his back story at all. same with his goons.

the finale felt really sacharin for some reason. i hope next season is the last and they put the emphasis back on dexter the killer, not dexter the emo. i haven't read the books so i don't know if he does finally get caught, but after all the teasing for 5 years now, we need deb to know exactly who dexter is and conclude the series. the mileage is fast running out and i kinda wish they conluded it this season - it would be the only way to carry the momentum from that epic 4th season.

Next season Deb and Quinn will figure it out, team up with Dex and be known as the Trinity of Killers. They'll also introduce the 24 tic-toc-tic-toc sound alot.

Dexter's reason for letting Quinn walk was that he wanted his sister to be happy?!?!? :dork: :dork:

How could he let Quinn take the fall? Quinn has really done nothing wrong. Simply doing his job...

Maybe because he's a psychopath and derives pleasure from murder?

^ he doesnt kill for pleasure, he kills to still his need. he has said multiple times that he doesnt quite like his Dark Passenger but has come to terms with it.
that doesnt mean he lets random people take the fall for murders :dork:

Quinn wont do anything with his suspicions, he acknowledges what Dexter has done for him and in return he won't go after him. We've seen him try the cop-honour code thing before when Dexter saw him take money from a crime scene.

anyway. a fitting finale. Lumen's departure was very forced but well explained. I do hope the next season will indeed focus more on Dexter the killer and not Dexter the emo, like bitwise aptly said.

After Deb letting "Number 13 and her helper friend" leave the crime scene, I'm quite confident that she would probably accept Dexter's double-life and would probably say to Dexter killing those he knew would kill again: "Those fuckers deserved it"

She did say she believed that some people should die and that she wasn't the one to make that decision, so she'd more than likely let Dexter make those decisions for her.

Perhaps after realizing what Dexter is, then Dexter could explain to her why her father spent so much more time with him (teaching him "The Code") when they were kids.

Or maybe she'll just pull out her gun and put a bullet through Dexter's head.

At the beginning of the season, I'd have disagreed with you, GKY, but after Deb's character has evolved throughout this season, I'm more inclined to agree now.

I'm still somewhat inclined to disagree. I think she only let it go in this specific case because she'd been so affected by watching the DVDs [they made it a point to have Deb watch them again in the last episode, for no real reason]. And also because she could sort of empathise with 13 due to the whole Ice Truck Killer experience.

Some of her changes of opinion occurred before they knew what the Barrel Girls killers were doing, though, right? I mean, they didn't even have a name for Jordan and his posse until half a dozen episodes in...

I think her main change of opinion happened when she formulated the vigilante theory, which iirc, was after they'd found the DVDs and she saw the footprints outside Alex's house.

This show is AMAZING. While the finale wasn't as suspenseful as the other finales, i THINK they are opening a door for deb to find out dexters secret and get him out of huge shit next season.

What do you guys think?

hmm too much closure, not enough cliff hanger, pretty weak "end fight"..

the death of rita last season was actualy quite interesting but this time.. there is not much.. i don't know i expected somehow alot more from the last episode..

not sure how they want to make the next season better.. we already had 2 seasons with "partners in crime" ... we already had the "cop" snifs after dexter thing.. what was he called the black guy.. doughs or so, who got barbecued..

it feels a bit like rinse and repeat.. but i still like the show.. its an up and down with this season tho.
