I've never seen a reaction like this from the viewers. It'll be interesting to see the ratings numbers for next week, they could actually lose viewers...

Theres a kid in that vid I thought was donny too. It still might be.

The scene could've been better with white wedding and tweaked lyrics playing in the background n all
Eh, check the girl and dude at 1:09. They don't give a shit? lol.

The Game of Thrones theme song played on classical guitar by the composer of the theme himself:

Although the reworked lyrics makes the song about an actual wedding instead of drug abuse :(

lol, Donny didn't seem to give a shit either, they knew. Even I was like 'HOLY SHIT' *bounces* as it got worse and worse, at some point I think I was laughing as the room was getting mowed down and up the duff bitches were getting back alley aborted.

HBO / the writer knew what the fans reaction would be, they knew they would be pissed. If it was done for shock value I shall be highly disapoint.

Aye he knew what he was doing (G.R.R. Martin). The Starks are built up as the hero family, things move along nicely where you *think* you can see the story arc heading in a fairly familiar direction - Robb is going to avenge his father, right..? and then WHAM holy shit left hook out of nowhere. There are loads of these throughout the books, this is just one of the more memorable "hooks" :)

I remember reading this at the time it was published, which of course meant you had no idea how many books were still to come, so the wrench away from what you thought was going to be a lead-up to the conclusion of a story was pretty brutal - same feeling for anyone watching the TV show with no idea of the book series I guess?

GEORGE R.R. MARTIN: I knew it almost from the beginning. Not the first day, but very soon. I’ve said in many interviews that I like my fiction to be unpredictable. I like there to be considerable suspense. I killed Ned in the first book and it shocked a lot of people. I killed Ned because everybody thinks he’s the hero and that, sure, he’s going to get into trouble, but then he’ll somehow get out of it. The next predictable thing is to think his eldest son is going to rise up and avenge his father. And everybody is going to expect that. So immediately [killing Robb] became the next thing I had to do.

Ya know, I hadn't thought of that. All these people are having this huge emotional response after seeing this week's episode (I've read about support groups being formed to comfort viewers). But just think about GRRM's emotional connection. He's the one who ultimately pulled the trigger. I bet it was easy for him to do, but I'd also bet he grieved a little for his characters...

The only thing I could think of during the massacre was this: "Is Edmure still fucking his hot new bride or was he slaughtered too?"

By the way, GRRM looks exactly how I would want a fantasy writer to look. But he's getting on up there in age, and he's a bit porky. If he crokes before he finishes this shit, I'ma be pissed...

Aye, it felt like being lead up to and dropped off a cliff, why I hope he didn't do it for the sake of it. It's good to be unpredictable but if he did it 'cos he could' and he carries on then I think It'll spoil it, wouldn't be much point in building people up only to knock them back down without some ultimate goal ya know ?.

I doubt he did, he hasn't failed to provide so far and from what I can tell we are now left with a bunch of cunts. It's gonna get dirty.

Don't worry, no one believed you actually read something.

i'm not convinced that collecting readers' expectations and simply doing the opposite is the path to good fiction. it works once or twice, but it seems more and more like that's the entire story.

Should I start watching this show so that I know what the fuck you guys are talking about in the last 9 pages or am I better off in sweet ignorance?

Can I be guaranteed that I won't turn into another one of these morons ranting about something to do with a red wedding or whatever the hell it is?

Well, the ranting bit is up to you. But unless you're a robot, you will have some level of emotional attachment to the characters by this time. I definitely recommend watching it, or better yet: read the books.

I am surprised the cast, crew and others did not leak the details of this episode or at least I never heard any gossip about the Red Wedding.
