So it turns out that in the latest study, a heel-strike is actually more efficient for running. Meaning that the vibram-style shoes aren't doing anything healthy for you.

Oh he isn't selling anything, he just calls himself "PaleoMessi" (Messi being the best football player there has been and Paleo...yeah). So he talks about how clean his diet is and how hard he trains etc and I ran into a few people I know who train purely for size and are quite open in admitting they jab. I told them where I train and they proceed to tell me they supply a few people with different gear...and they supply this one person with both DNP and NPP, making his entire years training nothing but a joke, in my eyes.

It wouldn't be so bad if he just owned up to it and said "Yeah, I do this" but he is one of those people who ridicules the people who he knows in different places that are openly jabbing.

Boils my piss, especially when other people look to him for inspiration on how he has lost weight and what he tells them is bollocks because he takes all sorts to help.

My entry is unrelated to the shoe discussion but:

Of course it is more efficient! Everybody walks like this. Evolution made humans the most efficient long-distance runner on earth - early humans actually chased not with weapons but ran their prey to death over several days.

Still: While using up more energy, FF is a lot faster for short distances.

Gonna run my first official 15KM run in 4 weeks time. I've been training towards that distance and ran a 15KM training last weekend for the first time (broke it up as 10KM running, 3 minutes walking, then run the rest. Took me 1hr 35mins). Never thought I'd actually manage to go that far.

I was about to start a new thread for plained but will make an entry here :)

I was looking at the scales and my weight has sneaked (or is that snuck?) up on me of recent times as it does. I have decided to embark on a weight loss challenge.

Here are the stats thus far.

Monday 14/10/2013 94
Monday 21/10/2013 92.5
Monday 28/10/2013 91.5
Monday 4/11/13 Decided to have a beak
Monday 11/11/2013 89.7

Thursday 14/11/2013 88.4

Wish me luck on my quest :sly:

So, I ran that 15KM last Sunday. Did it in 1:33:06, which I guess isn't really fast but I'm proud that I actually made it 15KM all the way through. 1.5 years ago I was still saying how I'd never be able to run 10KM even.

It was wn amazing event though. Nearly 30,000 people running there that day. It was massive.
