The Constant (Gardening) Faggot: 6/10. Fair effort...not something I'd watch a second time.

Bit campy, but enjoyable, I thunk.

For me: Night Watch ('Nochnoy Dozor')

Meh.

Don't get to see Russian flicks too often, so that was interesting, but while it had a reasonably good start, in which they seem to have blown all their budget on FX, it dwindled down to a boring 'climax' I didn't give a shit about.

Too much obsessively trying to be 'Hollywood', with its Matrix-esque effects, and thereby too much neglecting an interesting plot.

5/10

Night Watch 2 ('Dnevnoy dozor') (the sequal) ready on the back burner, but not too psyched to watch.

Yeah, there's not too much to say about Night Watch. A seemingly good idea but it was pervasively mediocre.

It's a planned trilogy I recall. Doubt I'll bother with #2 or #3.

House of Flying Daggers - 8/10.

Really enjoyed this. Marvelously beautiful cinematography. Scenery is amazing. Some points lost for the slight lack of a complex story, and for the Echo Game scene... which was boring.

The Getaway 1972 Steve McQueen directed by Sam Peckenpah

8/10

This movie is worth seeing for so many reasons.

It's a very manly movie so I'm sure most of you would really like it.

The Wicker Man - 6/10

Not terrible, but i just didn't like it (it has Nicolas Cage). Lack of coherent story and meaningless flashbacks smelt of sloppy post production editing. A somewhat original storyline and a non-happy ending saved the day.

I kept thinking it would have probably made an absolutely awesome point and click PC adventure.

Bon Cop Bad Cop 9/10

A great movie only a Canadian can understand.

You allso have to love scenes in movies where there is a big fire and marowana plants involved.
The part where a gow-op house catches fire, good times.

Buster Keaton had it coming, a few crappy films behind him since 1997 so this was pretty important. I must say I did enjoy the explicit sex scenes involving Elisha Cuthbert and Marilyn Moore but that whole deal with Joe Pesci taking a hike with Steve Martin then popping him in the head was uncalled for and completely unnecessary. It added to the plot in no way and didn't make any sense in the bank heist ending. The movie basically ends on a whim with Chevy Chase taking off his mask and looking straight at the camera for 5 seconds and saying, "The end?". Looking forward to the sequel :icon14:

United 93 - 8/10 - quite harrowing to watch, especially near the end. very realistic, documentary style, a million miles from hollywood

Talledega (sic?) Nights: 6/10 Funny, but not quite as consistent in delivering the LOLs as Ron Burgundy. Some real choice moments though.

Lord of War ( 9.5/10 )

Amazing movie
80% black comedy
10% tragedy
9% social comentary
1% cage doing his sad face

If it hadn't gotten overshadowed by crash, munich, et'al... i think this one should have been a real contender for the best picture statue.

Couldn't agree more. Then again, trailers don't make the movie but it still looks gay :icon33:

Syriana ( 7/10 )

it would have been far better if it wasn't "Traffic with oil"
gaghan and soderbergh make a movie that has identical structure, style, cinematography, and striking character parallels; and expect me to think i'm staring into the eyes of genius... At least traffic didn't cut the only important female role.

that bit asside, it had solid acting, solid story, and the geopolitical comentary was clear and not preachy.
