Since Obama got elected, all the gun nuts are going crazy. There is a "fear tax" right now. All gun dealers and gun shows are telling everyone that Obama has already started working on banning guns, and they are whipping up a frenzy. It's creating a shortage and all the prices are going through the roof. Ammo has been sold out in stores for weeks now. A friend of mine went to a gun show recently, and a couple of the vendors there were telling people that Obama has written a bill to ban black guns - and these people were eating it up.

I think it's funny that you've gone out and bought two guns in the midst of this Gramps - coincidence? lol

It's a 7.62x51 AKA .308. It'll punch holes in almost everything. I was at the range today and saw a guy shooting one. The sound and shock waves that came from that gun was awesome. I'm anxious to shoot mine.

I went to buy ammo yesterday in Wally World and was confronted by both situations.

The Walmart I went into was out of almost everything (as it has been before). The employee behind the counter was already calling other Walmarts for a guy in line. The employee told us that every Walmart in the area had problems keeping ammo in stock and each store had a very small selection. He went on to say that people are coming in early in the morning (after they unload their trucks) and buying up everything.

As I was standing at the counter, a guy passing by realized why several of us were waiting and started spouting off the shit about Obama banning all guns. I just let the guy ramble and move on. (After a moment of silence) I said to the others, "That guy is just a paranoid nut." Obama doesn't plan to ban "all" guns. He favors the reinstatement of the Federal Assault Weapons Ban. Which may affect our ability to buy those weapons and/or ammo. However, It doesn't explain why we can't get pistol ammo from one of the largest retailers in America. This is all just BS propaganda which is unfortunately affecting the cost, and our ability to obtain ammo.

I left that store and drove to another Walmart. This Walmart was also low on stock. But I was able to purchase everything I wanted to shoot this weekend (which wasn't much).


So to answer your question Rook. I have wanted a shot gun and a magazine fed rifle for some time now. The current economy has made it easier for me to obtain what I want and is the prime motivating factor behind my recent purchases. The idea of an Obama Assault Rifle ban is a slight concern. But if the sale of assault rifles dose get banned, I'll already have one.
