Why do y'all think Mitt will win?
Serious question. Spare me the "cause Americans are stoopid" response...

well I'm not certain he will. Ohio looks good for Obama so I may be wrong but... the economy is still bad and people blame Obama for that.

Not to mention, the majority of Americans are incredibly stupid and easily misled.

Re: The Election Thread
p.s. I like this little quote about last night's debate.... (William Rivers Pitt)
Neither Schieffer, nor Romney, nor Obama dared to say anything "radical" like, "A very, very small cut in the defense budget would immediately resolve a large amount of our concern over the economy, would immediately halt all this talk of ending Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, defunding public schools, closing post offices, and privatizing health care, because a very, very small cut in the defense budget would give us all the money we need, and more, to keep these things solvent. We're not actually broke, America. We just need to realign our priorities."

Re: The Election Thread
Obama only seems effective when he's able to monologue. I've been distinctly unimpressed with how weak he is as a debater during this process.

Re: The Election Thread
Ok another serious question right back at you: If you vote for Romney, what exactly do you think you're voting for when the man has no clear policies on anything? What exactly in his huge pile of lies convinced you he was better for your country?xer0s wrote:Why do y'all think Mitt will win?

I bet all my posts xer0s can't answer this question.
Re: The Election Thread
There are other paths to the White House besides Ohio, but they're much more difficult to achieve. It's looking bleak for Mitt if you ask me...HM-PuFFNSTuFF wrote:well I'm not certain he will. lol jesus...you don't answer the question by quoting it.
Re: The Election Thread
xer0s, are you really voting for Romney? If so, what is your justification?
Over here, everything we see of Romney demonstrates a man of blinding insincerity. Most republicans don't seem to be particularly smart or well educated, yet you are clearly an intelligent individual, so I'm wondering what it is about the republicans that keeps you voting for them.
I have no dog in this fight, I'm genuinely interested.

Re: The Election Thread
I don't discuss politics on q3w because it's predominantly liberal, and all I receive are attacks and insults. I'd rather just laugh at people like GFY as they drool over evey vague post I make...
And you're probably only seeing Romney as "a man of blinding insincerity", because the mainstream media is also predominantly left wing.
My second paragraph here is enough to keep GFY going for a while...

Re: The Election Thread
Well, to be honest, I watched the town hall debate, and I didn't see the part where Obama won. I quite liked Romney in it; he seemed like he was on top of his game, and fairly pointed out some of Obama's failures.
I'd still like you to answer my question though. You weren't asked it by a liberal or a leftist, I'm dead in the centre.

You clearly don't see the error in your logic.0psys wrote:Most republicans don't seem to be particularly smart or well educated, yet you are clearly an intelligent individual, so I'm wondering what it is about the republicans that keeps you voting for them.
You correctly state that most Republicans don't seem to be particularly smart or well educated, then you make the incredible observation that xer0s is "clearly an intelligent individual" and then wonder why he votes Republican? A hint: he's not intelligent...and certainly not "clearly". He votes Republican precisely because he isn't smart or well educated.
I would ask you why you think xer0s is intelligent by any stretch of the word?
Re: The Election Thread
I don't think any explanation will suffice for you. GKY, because you clearly have a palpable disliking of xer0s.
He writes well and has an obvious sense of the ironic, he also appears, unlike most people on this forum, to really appreciate how meaningless it all is. Those things do not combine to make a stupid man. Quite the opposite.

Re: The Election Thread
I have a palpable disliking of stupidity...period. Every single person on this board has been slammed by me if I think they're saying something dumb.
I consider xer0s dumb for the same reasons you think he isn't: the content of his posts.
Obvious sense of the ironic? He appreciates the "meaningless of it all"? This coming from the person who spent the last decade obsessed with this forum getting banned multiple times and creating uncountable alt-nicks to keep posting here...all for something that is "meaningless"?
Whatever your shrink has been selling you clearly isn't working.

Re: The Election Thread
It is easy to win when you say things without substance. When you don't have to define any of these wondrous plans to save the country. When you change your position to suit the audience you're speaking to. When you disregard facts and sell based on ideology and emotion. When you flat out lie over and over again. The only platform Romney is running on is the "I'm not Obama" platform and there is enough hatred and misinformation spread out there that it just might work for him. I'm still betting that it wont.0psys wrote:Well, to be honest, I watched the town hall debate, and I didn't see the part where Obama won. Fox News is by far the most watched news channel in America and yet somehow the "mainstream media" is always the "left wing liberals".

Although I wasn't asked by a leftist, there are still other prying eyes that I wouldn't want to give that satisfaction. Fly over here to the states and we'll sit down, have a beer, and discuss it...0psys wrote:Well, to be honest, I watched the town hall debate, and I didn't see the part where Obama won. Do you keep repeating this crap in the hope that it'll make it true?GONNAFISTYA wrote:I

You're like a little pent up ball of anger, constantly ready to attack the first person who politely disagrees with you.
Everyone is a moron except GKY.

Bad idea dude-you and I in the same room? I give it ten minutes before GKF bursts in with 3 kilos of C4 strapped to his portly waist and blows us all to teary smithereens.xer0s wrote: Although I wasn't asked by a leftist, there are still other prying eyes that I wouldn't want to give that satisfaction.
