I read the first and last page and I don't think I nned to look at whats in the middle because I'm sure its another Rep shit sandwich.

I'll bet it won't be long before Blair gets accused of leaving London open for attack by sending so much of their security forces to protect the G8 leaders in Scotland, if the in fighting in here is any measure...

I bet it won't be long either, because that's what you just did, right?

haven't read this thread yet, but imo, the only big deal about this event is that it's unusual with respect to its victims.

Other than that, it's the same ol shit i been hearing every week - bomb blows up in iraq, scores dead, hundreds wounded...

For some reason, the last 24 hours seems best accompanied by Mudvayne's "Choices."

Quick note - rep isn't posting words from extremists, he's just posting verses from the Koran. But most Muslims, from what I understand, don't follow it to the letter like that - same point you made.

Multiply the deaths by 8-9 then you'll have our 9/11. Just hope those with heads in the sand wake up.

You think the bomber sitting next to you is gonna tell you that he isn't following any verse to a T? They're gonna smile, say hello, then press the button.

I didn't say that the bombers weren't following it to a T.

I said most practicing Muslims don't seem to follow/interpet (not sure which) the Koran in that aspect - the killing of the 'non-believers.'

Wake up and do what? Start to take a long, hard look at the conditions that make radical Islam and blowing yourself up in the name of Allah an attractive option? There's blame to be shared when you get to the root of the problem. What the suicide bombers/terrorists do is unforgivable and cowardly. But to simply say "radical Islam" when asked about the cause of the problem (something guys like O'Reilly, Hannity, etc. tend to do) greatly simplifies the issue.

The following is merely for clarification, because people often use the 'yea but Christians don't follow the Bible' bit - and in doing so are mising the whole point of what Christianity is supposed to be about...

Nobody does, nobody really could. And if you are referring to the old testament law books, those really aren't supposed to be followed to a T anymore...those have a specific historical context - to be honest, most seem to be nothing more than man made laws that are designed to protect them from things (for example, not eating certain foods - probably because if you didn't prepare them right, you got sick - thus said food must have been 'cursed'). But the basic tenets of the Bible (for someone who claims to be a Christian) are supposed to be the teachings espoused by Jesus Christ (hence the name CHRISTianity). And Christianity is not about whether or not you are able to follow every single teaching all the time. It's about being forgiven for not being able to, and about trying to live a life that exemplifies those teachings - things like not being judgemental, turning the other cheek, forgiving people, etc.

Americanized Christianity is often self-serving and convenient. People like the televangalists you see on TV and those hard core bible thumpers pull out Biblical quotes that are often taken completely out of context, and use them to belittle or condemn others. At the same time, they ignore the words of Christ himself - words like "let he who is without sin cast the first stone"...

So, in short, most of the loudmouthed "Christians" have very little to do with what Christ supposedly taught. Many worship the Bible -which is not Christianity. They probably worship it because they can skew its message and use bits and pieces of it out of context to justify their own actions while condemning others.

The same can be said for ANY belief system, spiritual or not.

Religions of the book are more trouble than they're worth, aren't they? If only because they incite 15 year olds to pull out that old "religion is the cause for every major conflict" shite in every discussion

p.s. rep, I don't care what your real age is. You're the platonic ideal of 15 year old logic.
