Look dude, you don't know shit about the reliability of a 2007 H3. The 07' has been redesigned and has more HP than the 06' and most of the data available now is insufficient. Besides, you've most likely never even sat in a Hummer, let alone driven one.

THE DRIVING EXPERIENCE

The H3 has a stiff, rubbery ride, but impacts aren't overly harsh. The highway ride is nervous, with pronounced wind and tire noise.

Body lean is limited by the stiff suspension, and the H3's tight 37-foot turning circle is impressive. The steering is well-weighted and responsive but doesn't transmit road feedback to the driver.

At its handling limits, the H3 is clumsy and plows early in corners. But it's kept in check by the stability-control system. It was awkward in our avoidance-maneuver course, posting a slow maximum speed.

The H3 is powered by a 220-hp, 3.5-liter five-cylinder engine that struggles to move this heavy SUV. The four-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly but must downshift often to maintain speed. It got only 14 mpg overall, which is similar to that of most V8s. It took a long 25.6 seconds to tow our 3,500-pound trailer to 60 mph. Its maximum towing capacity is 4,500 pounds.

Visibility is poor, even by SUV standards. The thick roof pillars and small windows contribute to a claustrophobic feeling and create large blind zones. The rear-mounted spare tire partially obscures the rear window. Large side mirrors somewhat compensate for the poor visibility.

etting in and out of the cabin is a challenge. The floor is high and requires a tall step up. The rear doors don't open very wide, further restricting access.

Most primary controls are easy to use and the displays are clear and easy to read. However, the climate controls are mounted low on the dash, it's difficult to operate the seat controls with the doors closed, and the door-mounted window and lock controls are awkwardly placed. Other gripes include the lack of a gear indicator on the shifter, the small cruise controls, and the awkward power-mirror control.

SAFETY NOTES

The rear-center seating position lacks a head restraint, failing to provide adequate whiplash protection.

It sounds to me like you're the one who's basing their opinions on rumors instead of research.

Did the salesman tell you that Consumer Reports rated it highly or something?

You know, a lot of places you can get away with taking a vehicle back for a couple of days after you purchased it.

No, I was of the same opinion as most of you here. I also read the consumer reports article in the 2007 auto guide. Even though the reviewer didn't speak so highly of it, the line by line rating was very good (which no one has posted). I also thought that I should go down and drive one before I made any final judgments. Now that I've driven it, I've changed my mind. The ride is very comfortable, the steering is precise, the controls are well placed and it offers a very stable feeling ride. It is a bit of a dog because it only has a 242HP engine to push around the 5000+ Lbs. But it'll tow 4500 Lbs, drive though brick walls and the wife isn't racing anyone.

Look, I never said this was the best SUV on the market. I know it's not. The Toyotas have that pretty much wrapped up. I also looked at the Toyota Sequoia and the 4-Runner before I bought the H3. To tell you the truth, I wasn't that impressed with either one. The Toyotas looked really plain, didn't handle any better and offered less for more money. The Sequoia was a big square box with no defining features and only came with a V8. The 4-Runner looked the same, but was too small.

The H3 is rated better than most SUVs. It's also speculated to hold it's value the same as it's Toyota counterparts. But what's most important is that the wife and I like it.
