"Police Protection" is an oxymoron. Free citizens must protect themselves. Police do not protect you from crime; they usually just investigate the crime AFTER it happens and then call someone in to clean up the mess.

Remember the average response time to a 911 call is over 9 minutes. The average response time of a 357 magnum is 1400 FPS

I've lived in some shitty areas, and the only time I was confronted with gun violence was in my lily-white hometown in VT. I do support people carrying guns if they feel that they're likely to be mugged, or if they have been mugged, I just don't support idiots. Until we can ban morons IRL, I guess we're kinda fucked.
