If you are into the classic
2001: A Space Odyssey you must watch this series...

... and if you are into video/photography, watch How Kubrick Made 2001: A Space Odyssey - Part 6: Jupiter and Beyond the Infinite [A] at about 13 minutes
EDIT days later, a must watch.. Finish at Part 7

I have a deep interest into how visual or practical effects were realized in the earlier days of cinematography, prior to CGI.
I think it is fascinating, the magic of cinema really (when it is combined with good editing).
Douglas Trumbull is mentioned in that video. He started as a miniature builder, then transitioned to miniature-photography and would later develop techniques for visual effects shot in-camera. For 2001 he developed the Slitscan-technique for the famous "Flying into the Monolith" scene.
Later on he would co-develop whole filming/projection-systems. His body of work is pretty astounding.

I've been subbed to open ai now for a while and it's upsetting a lot of the local artists I hang out with, understandably. It's going to take over minor things like story-boarding and pretty much anything that requires a small art piece. I'm waiting to get a beta access to one that does videos at the moment. You just describe the scene and it does a short video of it. From there it's just a matter of time until we have full length movies with no real actors or places... It's pretty insane.

And James Earl Jones, who is stepping down from taking active work at the age of 91,
has signed off on AI to reproduce his voice.
Having seen previously what AI can do with vocal impersonation even a couple of years ago, yeah, we'll soon see a never-ending slew of convincing, purely AI-generated content in order to maintain IP.
