Yes, lovely pictures. Portrays the place nicely.

Re the new car....
Κracus wrote:Yeah, don't get a KIA. Seriously, worst car I've ever owned. If you're going to go with a korean car get a hyundai, they seem to be much better quality................
The build quality on the KIA range seems pretty good but I am a tech not a mech:) so I am still shopping and I've yet to study the Hyundai range.

Here and you may have it where you are, the KIA range come with a 7 year warranty, capped price servicing and roadside assistance.

The trade price in offered on my beautiful Mercedes Benz A200 :tear: is terrible to date and yes, it is getting to be an old car.

Mazda: seriously fascinated, got more pics of Iran? Also, how well do they treat foreigners (as in, if they saw a black dude walking around and not able to speak the language)?

Mostly just photos of relatives. I went to see my grandmother whom I hadn't seen in 23 years as she's in a perpetual state of pain and doesn't have long to live.

Iran embraces its tourism industry too, I've read many accounts of even Americans who were invited into people's homes and treated like family by strangers. They're very proud of their culture and want their country portrayed in the best light as possible regardless of their government. I became friends with a Dutch anthropologist on the flight back to Amsterdam who had just spent 8 days in Iran for the first time. He absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back. Typical-looking Caucasian dude. For a capital city with 10 million people, Tehran is quite safe even for foreign visitors traveling alone.

As for the second part of your question, this excerpt might interest you:
I can say that the Afro-Iranians not only fit into the Iranian society but they have even shaped the culture in southern parts of the country. Iran has a culturally diverse population, and in the two months I spent in the Hormozgan Province, I didn’t see any kind of discrimination, whereas I think you experience these kind of behaviors in Europe more often. Afro-Iranians belong to the cultural diverse society of Iran just like any other ethnic group such as the Azeris, Kurds, Arabs, Baluchis, Armenians, etc.

Re: What is new in your little world?

:( My Samsung SMART TV couldn't connect to my home wireless network so I can't access the 'smart hub' and being the old technician I am I took on the challenge to solve it.... No joy :tear: Despite a couple of hours trying everything (except a LAN cable connection) nothing worked.

Did I mention it is wall mounted and 60inch? Some 4 years old too....

I called the Service number, answered in the Philippines. They agreed with my diagnosis and put in a service call to my local repair centre. I have had a Samsung monitor repaired there before, no dramas..

They are going to repair under warranty

The service people called and need to take the big screen away for up to 2 weeks  so it will be a quiet one.

I could get the little telly 12inch (30cm) out of the book case and use that as a monitor and record all I need on the PVR(s) I suppose.... That will work OK..

I went to look at a new car, a Honda HR-V VTi-L Auto. I wasn't sold!

I did watch one of many reviews on YouTube video but couldn't believe my eyes when I saw the luggage area cover :smirk:

Yes they try and use all sorts of tricks and I've seen a few in the last days. It is the one I don't see that worries me.

I also listed with a couple of car brokers and that is looking a better option but it is only early days.

Anyone ever use a car broker? I'd love to here success or otherwise.

T'is a week or two before I trade my lovely Mercedes A200 in on a new car....

I had a service done on it late January and they suggested I change the battery because it failed their load test. I said don't do it as I am going to trade it in soon... Well soon passed and too soon...

They did say it needed a wheel alignment and auto transmission service too but be fair, am I going to recoup those dollars come trade? I doubt it!

OH, and new front wiper blades :smirk:

Come on now. Genuine parts are marked up at least 150 if not 200% and I am not silly....

Today, I'd just washed and vacuumed the gem, parked in the garage after the obligatory drive around the block to heat it up/dry off the bits I didn't, when I tried to turned the ignition key :(

Yes, you're right. Poor little Benz had a problem.....

I've been a member of the auto repair club 30+ years (Platinum Member - I must be getting old) and they attended promptly and swapped in an out for a new battery. $250 later.......

I hope I don't buy a lemon

I just ordered all new LED lamps for my bike. I got this bad ass spider eye head lamp (6000 lumens).

[lvlshot]https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1eIomNXXX ... b-Eyes.jpg[/lvlshot]

and I got a light module that flashes your rear lights to make you more visible when you apply the brakes.

No. LED's don't come factory installed. So if you want them you have to buy them separately.
