It wasn't so hard was it?

We'll see if they even have a team next year.. considering they were 1-19 in the Big 10 last year and haven't had a coach since November.

I was this close to selling my D200 today, and getting an EOS 1N-RS or F3/4/or 5. I'm really not liking the lens selection for digital. Not to mention it's 1.5:1. I thought I would be able to cope but I miss fast lenses and film. Maybe I should have gone Canon.
May 2002 was when I started tuning into photography after acquiring the Canon G2. I thought it was the shitz back then...40,000+ frames later and it's still taking the same quality pics. It is the shitz! Except too bad the rear LCD cracked in half 8 months ago.

What lenses do you have? Good condition F100 going for $250 these days. Get a 85mm F1.4 with it instead of dumping money on a 1V or F5.
I've got the 18-70 3.5-4.5 DX which came with the body. All my film 35mm was Canon and I sold that off a long time ago. When I bought the D200 I couldn't find they body alone anywhere so I went with the kit. This is the first time I've had a camera without having a lens that's at least 2.8. It probably doesn't really make that much of a difference but the lens not being fixed does. I generally don't like zooms either. High aperture shots don't seem as sharp as they should. I do a lot of low light shit so there's the noise factor that bugs me. The natural quality of grain and high speed film just isn't there for me digitally yet though I haven't spent much time researching as really how to use this camera. Not enough hours in the day lately...

Nice shot mate.

I could of had such a better image if I had a tripod with me. The shot I did was only the start of a long streak of forked lightning that ran from left to right. I have a few more, but I think the one I posted was the best.

I had it on the tripod 30 sec exposures. That storm was pretty nuts in Thailand.

DB - you still have the R-D1? Can you get any deals on the R-D1s? I'm a little interested...

I can't wait for Zeiss to figure out how to build a digital RF. The new film Ikon is a great camera. The R-D1 is interesting but dated, and the M8 is A) expensive and B) lame with it's need for filters.

Zeiss said they'll make one when they figure out how to do it FF, but I guess the engineering challenges are pretty substantial until someone can figure out how to make a digital sensor capable of collecting light from the extreme angles needed by RFs.

This is the closest I've ever come to a decent lightning shot:

Image

No tripod, no long exposure, just waiting on it to strike and snapping it. These are the kind of pics that really make me wish I had a better camera.

The look you got with that is really cool, though. It makes it look more "stormy" somehow. I like it.
I've never been able to get a good lightning shot.
