I'm calling it now, in the future they'll discover the Higgs Boson and what we perceive as consciousness are tied together.

I don't know how you can treat it like it's no big deal because "it's what we knew already" when a very real scenario was them not finding this particle...

I'm not reading tabloids. Just do a Google search for "God Particle" and you'll find almost 500 million results. Dunno...maybe some of you can't recognize sensationalism as easily as others.

And for some reason some of you idiots think that because I feel the reporting of the discovery is a bit daft that by default I think the discovery itself is meaningless. Priceless.

They didn't know. What they had was a mathematical equation that predicted the existence of this special particle. Sometimes the maths is wrong, so it has to be tested.

Look at it like this: Faraday had no idea that electromagnetic induction would lead to the computer, but without his experiments based on his formulas and equations, we wouldn't be here discussing things in this forum now. There's no way of telling what this find will lead to, just like nobody knew what Faraday's results would lead to. Unless these theories are tested and confirmed, then they cannot be improved upon.

Yea but these scientists were confident of finding the higgs long before the LHC was constructed, ive seen some of the guys working at CERN ? go on about how that even if this LHC doesnt produce the higgs that a larger one would, its nice proving yourself right but thats all these dudes done lol.

I havnt seen any skeptics refute the theory ?, Im probaly wrong about that tho and not being dismissive n all I just think the greater discovery was figuring out how to build an experiment to find it in the 1st place, knowing that there was something there to be found, the bigger surprise wouldve been if we took this long road of discovery and found fuck all ?

Its not like its gooing to advance our planet anymore either ?, its hardly increased our understanding ?, all the scientists will still be singing from the same hymn sheet ? and its not like were going to be changing plans now that we found one ?, the plan is still to find more higgsys ?
