Using a gmail account myself, in the US, and received nothing from them as far as confirmation for signup. I didn't realize this until today despite signing up the day they announced it.
Tried a different email provider and received my confirmation.

Looks very good. Wanna play.
But it's the end of the mapping community in iD games as we know it, I think.
Only doable via Snapmap, which just isn't the real thing.

A while ago someone made a good point on Reddit that making maps on the new id tech is going to be near impossible because of the hardware requirements. I think it has something to do with the lighting/textures that is baked into the map in post process and it takes beefy hardware to compile, afaik
