Federal law enforcement officers have used unmarked vehicles to detain protesters in Portland, according to news reports and at least one protester who spoke to USA TODAY.
Videos shared online show officers driving up to people, detaining them without explanation, then driving off, Oregon Public Broadcasting first reported. The ACLU filed a lawsuit Friday evening to try and end what it called "lawlessness" on the streets of Portland.
So now US Customs and Border Patrol is acting like the Secret Police, snatching protesters. Way to play into the fascist accusations, Drumpf administration. I worry whether our democracy can survive long enough to see a new administration take power. Will Drumpf even allow the election to take place, at this rate? :disgust:

Are you 100% sure they were protester and not rioters. The rioter I saw get detained was dressed in all black with a black hard hat strapped to his head. Rioters have been throwing bricks and burning buildings for 6 weeks in Portland. I'm sure the citizens would like to feel safe in there city at some point. And grabbing rioters when they get away from the crowds is much safer for everyone.

I'm 100% sure that there was no need for the feds to gas
Moms Against Police Brutality. Setting aside the fact that what they are doing is unconstitutional, it's only going to fan the flames further. So spare me your bullshit, you Gestapo wannabe.

Do you ever get tired of being wrong? It's like you try on purpose to be as stupid as possible. One could argue you can't be wrong when it comes to personal taste in things but then I look at your bike and realize nope... even that's wrong..

You're asking the wrong questions. In Gramps' mind,
he isn't wrong,
everyone else is wrong. And maybe, yeah, maybe he sometimes gets a little fed up trying to convince all those nay-sayers of the truth, but this is
Important stuff to teach to the world, you know.

Someone please just ask Gramps who he is voting for in November. I bet he won’t answer...

If I'm wrong. What am I wrong about? None of you have came up with anything to dispute the Jimmy Dore video, because you can't. Are you saying that there aren't rioters burning down buildings and vandalizing the federal court house in Portland for 6 weeks?
Well?

No alt, just recognizing the train wreck Biden being ignored. The YourGrandpa video noted an inconvenient truth with the mentioning of Pelosi and Schumer. But nothing to see here, all focus on orange man bad. One can only speculate how many will proclaim to leave the country again but not actually leave if the election doesn't go their way.

Exactly. Trump is a symptom, not cause. Anyone that doesn't realize that most likely regards Obama as a saint and thinks dubyah wasn't all that bad either.
Until the world's neo-libs get ousted as the war-loving corporate shills they are, there will be many more Trumptards and continued right-wing empowerment in the future.

Nobody
bothered to dispute the video. You know why? Because it's a nonsensical video that just about nothing. Nobody is willing to give the video any merit by acting like it holds water. It's like discussing the shape of the planet with a flat earther. It's a waste of time.
Also, if you're paying attention, you'll find that the two posts above this one exactly disprove the Dore video.

The shitty thing about current day (American) politics is that the choice is between somewhat shit and utter shit. Then we have progressive, critically thinking people capable of self-reflection (dare I say, mostly of Democrat orientation) who will say "yeah, Biden isn't ideal but Trump should never happen again".
Then there's loads of (Republican) people who are incapable of being critical about themselves and their representatives. They won't call out Trump on his lies and other bullshit. Any (healthy) criticism Democrats have on themselves will be taken by republicans and used as a way to reinforce their opinion of Trump.
If you'd ask me, I'd love to see someone like Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez as president, but that probably won't ever happen because she's way too progressive for most American citizens.

The country has been moving left for a while now; by the time she's ready to run, maybe the country will be ready for her.

it's ironic that the electoral college - the system designed to forestall the election of populist demagogues - has produced a populist demagogue
if the 2016 election were re-fought with direct election (and everyone voted exactly the same), every populist-white-supremacy-woo-woo narrative being touted in/about the US now would struggle to maintain themselves or might not even exist

As long as candidates continue to be vetted by banks, pharma giants, insurance companies, military contractors, oil, and the Israel/Saudi lobby, nothing will change.

well yeah we'd have gotten Wall St missilehead Hillary instead of orange fathead Trump. I'm not suggesting that would have been ideal (though in many ways it would have been an improvement), just making the point that an entire narrative edifice has been constructed off the back of Trump's "victory" that wouldn't exist if the 2016 election had been decided by direct voting
for one thing instead of listening to people blathering on about fascism, we'd could have listened to them blathering on about big oil, big pharma, big defense, big dicks etc
