Maybe there is hope for your shitty battery life (other than carrying around 5 extra packs).

Dunno, my 3GS attenuates quite impressively when I grip it by the bottom end - like most phones. Anandtech's analysis does a good job of describing why it's both a bigger and a smaller problem than the frothing masses think.

NEW YORK (AP) -- Apple Inc. said Friday that it was "stunned" to find that its iPhones have for years been using a "totally wrong" formula to determine how many bars of signal strength they are getting.

That drop seems exaggerated because the phone can wrongly display four or five bars of signal strength when it shouldn't, Apple said.

"Their big drop in bars is because their high bars were never real in the first place," the company said in a statement to users.

June 02 = Friday. Which is when the article says that Apple made that statement. Did they make it on Thursday?

I'm coming round to the conclusion that Apple can do one after that OS4 update that does practically nothing on the 3G (non-S) except slow it right the fuck down. If it was a ploy to force me to go to another one, there's a fair chance it's not going to work if something comparable to the Evo makes it over here.

got to play with a ip4 today, it had the rubber bumper on. first thing i did was bridge the gap and lo and behold the 3G dropped to o and it lost two bars. lol.

but, the screen is awesome and it's very fast.

i won't be rushing to upgrade mine now.

How was the rubber bumper? Would it protect the phone if it was dropped? Or is it strictly asthetic? Thinkin bout getting one of those...
