How's the story? Everyone says it's ass which is typical for id, which is sad cause I wanted to get into it.

Anyone have a issue where Rage screenshots are not saved?

I press F12, my screen blinks but I don't get any notification of a screenshot and nothing is saved on my PC.

Running Windows 7 Home Premium - the only screenshot being saved in my user folder is the one taken when you exit the game.

They are taken using Steam Cloud. You should be seeing a Steam dialog after you exit with all the shots you have taken. You should also see a notification overlay whenever the screenshot is taken. Just took this one:

I have played for a few hours. I am having no technical problems (I spent a few minutes before installing the game making the missing cache directory and HQ config so I wouldn't have to deal with pop-in ever), and it stays locked at 60 fps. Really, really fun game. What it might lack in story depth, it sort of makes up for in character. John Goodman sounds pretty cool in this game.

Also, holy fuck I love the sound of the sg in this game.

Much more in-depth impressions will probably be posted when I finish the game in a few days. I am beta testing The Old Republic this weekend so time with Rage will be cut short, probably, unless I can finish the game before tomorrow night.

had a quick go last night and it's fucking great. seems like it's only a little less linear than old iD games, which is fine by me.

going to try those tweaks at the weekend - hopefully that and/or a patch will get rid of this bloody epilepsy-inducing texture-popping.

This shit is painfully boring at some stretches. There was great combat the first couple missions, now I have been spending the last 30 minutes doing nothing but completely generic "oh, you want this thing? Well you need to go to that guy and get this other thing for me" on and on and on.

Story is bad - lots of details in the environment that you think would be part of it are just there for eye candy.

I can't help but shake the feeling that the twenty seven thousand six hundred and fourty two locked doors I've found so far will be used for DLC some how... Call it an insane crazy hunch...

Yep, exactly how I felt. I got to the subway section and just gave up, since it was so dull. The RPG/exploration elements should have taken the game to the next level, but they just felt so tacked on and unnecessary. I would have honestly preferred a straight-shooter, rather than stumbling from one dull fetch quest to the next. The combat was great, the controls felt fluid and the actual combat locations were great, textures aside. But the NPCs were just so generic and uninteresting that I felt no incentive to do their quests. It doesn't help that 99% of the game world is static too, with nothing to break/interact with outside of doors and keypads. It's basically exactly how I knew it was gonna be and pretty much puts the nail in id's coffin as far as i'm concerned.

If you knew you weren't going to like it - that you call it the nail in id's coffin suggests that you don't like it - why did you buy it?

A lot of the boxes in the shrouded zone are breakable but that is all I've noticed so far. Was surprised when I shot one by accident. Love the RC Bomb Cars.

I cleared all the races with gold and nothing special happened. Might beat a couple a second time to get the last few car upgrades. The Rocket Rally events are the only ones slightly challenging though. I wonder if the game difficulty ramps up the racing difficulty too.

The job board is cool, especially the two sniper missions. After clearing them all I got another mission but I haven't completed it yet. I think I'm up to 6-7 hours play time.

Because my opinion switched after seeing the last 2 trailers id released. It looked genuinely decent and I gave it the benefit of the doubt. Big mistake as it turns out.

From now on, i'm just going with my gut reaction, until the game is actually released and peer/journal reviewed. Skyrim being the exception, cos we all know that's gonna be alpha as fuck.

The pace is ultimately determined by the order you accept missions. If you select mundane missions one right after another, then it will seem slow. I mix up missions so I'm not always going to pick up an item or run an errand. Main quests are usually more in depth. Mixing it up seems to balance the pace for me...
