You could at least provide a random link to the Basque news agency to back that up, 'stead of pulling it out your arse.

this is how the media works it for the govt's...they throw out something like they just did on cnn...they say intel suggest zarqawi cells *may be* operating in europe. the media just gets this info from some govt agency and doesn't try to verify or confirm it...they just report it...ppl hear it and then believe it...how lame...out media is officially pravda...

I haven't seen any evidence linking Al Qaeda to the bombings; and there's been precious little tying them to Iraq. Plus there's a whole bunch of G8 stuff going on. i.e. it's far to early to call.

I don't see much political capital being made off this in Britain, though. Reportage has mostly just been aimed at reducing the inevitable forinner-bashing over the weekend.

well the timing of it seems more likely g8 related then islamic terrorism...then netenyahoo could have been a target...then the ira is still there...so why is everyone assuming its al-queda? hmmm...puhlease...the fix is in...

this is how it works...the fix IS in...

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8496293/

"But MSNBC TV translator Jacob Keryakes, who said that a copy of the message was later posted on a secular Web site, noted that the claim of responsibility contained an error in one of the Quranic verses it cited. That suggests that the claim may be phony, he said.

"This is not something al-Qaida would do," he said. "

Furthermore, the website posting doesn't even claim personal responsibility, it simply references "the heroic mujahedeen" in the third person. The posting praises the attack, it doesn't even take responsibility for it.

These facts didn't stop countless newspapers and Neo-Con websites automatically assuming Al-Qaeda (or Al-CIAda) was behind the attack.

I'm a little behind here.

The attacks seem a bit like the Spain bombings which were not Al Qaeda IIRC (that was done via cellphones in duffle bags right?)

How were these London attacks done? Just timed bombs or something?

i don't buy this forewarning theory. these warnings are usually so vague and generic, and so far all but one have been false, that as much as i'd like to beat blair over the head with them, it's better to stick to the important things like why it happened rather than get distracted by tinfoil conspiracy wank

We had nothing to do with the war in iraq so if we ever get struck it means nobody's safe anymore.

The US and UK had terrorists attacks cause they raped iraq so I don't think ontario is gonna get attacked...too bad really.
AL Qeada already said they hate Canada, and put it on it's list of 5 coutnries it was going to wage it's Jihad against. This is not new.

I'll just say this:

I don't know what happened or who's responsible.

But....

I must say that this bombing seems to be ill-timed if it was carried out by terrorists who are pissed about Iraq....because so much was in the spotlight to finally draw some attention to the illegal war and plight of Iraq. With the downing street memo and so many other incidents alot of people were seeing the shitty way the US and UK are handling the war.

It seemed as if things were finally fucked for the brits and yanks with something reasonably solid to embarrass Bush and Blair to a high degree and change public opinion. Not to mention the potential horn locking that might have occured during the G8 summit where Blair's agenda DIRECTLY opposed the US agenda....now they don't have to talk of "potential rifts" in their partnership.

These revelations were about to get some attention (even though the mainstream media is trying not to talk about it) but now CNN, et al have something else to talk about...terrah.

These real issues regarding Iraq aren't discussed and another "distraction" seems to have taken place....giving Bush and Blair a chance for another round of soapbox bullshit.

It seems detrimental to the anti-Iraq-war-terrorist's cause if Iraq isn't in the headlines and Blair and Bush aren't under pressure to improve the situation...unless it was simply revenge.

Like I said...dunno...but it seems as if the timing is all fucked and whoever is in charge of these terrorists doesn't see beyond the Iraq border....if that was who done gone and done it. It could have been executed by a single bitter guy with ten or six mobile phones and pissed off at his pension settlement.

its so funny but not...they will have a report on tv which specifically says they have no evidence who did it, then right after the report they have guests in the studio, and the reporter and the guests will talk about al-queda for the next 10 minutes...wtf...

"Very powerful, excellent, and it was such a great contrast to what we were seeing in our own media this morning with the hand-wringing I was speaking about and the, "Oh, woe is us," and, "Oh, what did we do to cause this," and, "Oh, does this mean we're going to get hit?" and, oh, blah, blah, blah. It's like I said, 40 people dead, 150 seriously wounded, 1,000 wounded out of over a million people in that transit tube. It's not a successful terrorist attack, folks. They didn't succeed in doing anything." - Rush Limbaugh
