Re: The Election Thread
Read a news item today about Romney using some loophole in Dutch tax laws so he can avoid paying more than 2% taxes

This. Tired as well of every moron on both sides of the aisle holding forth as if they were a D.C. insider about every aspect of politics, the economy, foreign policy, etc., etc. Two years of this bullshit is more than enough.shaft wrote:1 more day and its all over. Jesus cartwheeling christ:
Meat Loaf serenading Mitt Romney.
I dare you to sit this one out, without killing yourself out of vicarious embarrassment.
Still trying to work out if this is genuinely meant as some sort of retarded, sweaty, fatheaded support for Romney, or a stealthy undermining move.

How close is this really ?, I can't really understand how it can be ?, I've been entertaining the idea that the media need to keep the hype up to hook the viewers ?. On the day Romney will wish he was punched in the dick.

Crazy people are crazy, etc.
Re: The Election Thread
People actually believe all the misinformation. They think Obama is a Kenyan muslim who took away their Christian nation and made it a socialist, communist state. They think he is just some nigger that wants to give people a free ride while taking money and guns from hard workers. They hate "obamacare" and see nothing good about it. They think he is to blame for the recession, the lack of jobs, the "lack" of recovery, and the entire economy. They think all the bailouts were total failures that added to our debt. They legitimately think they need to fight to take back their country. They literally hate Obama.losCHUNK wrote:How close is this really ?, I can't really understand how it can be ?, I've been entertaining the idea that the media need to keep the hype up to hook the viewers ?. Some selections from my facebook feed over the past month:

The polls favor Obama but I honestly think that Romney is going to win Ohio.

Re: The Election Thread
I think I made the conspiracy nut posting on my FB wall lose his mind. I've shattered his world-view so badly he's posting all over his FB that he's leaving the internet because it's "full of fools" who don't believe the conspiracies. I've given him so many chances at rebuttal and all he can do is fill the conspiracy gaps with more conspiracies. As I said before...there is no rational way to reach these people and the only way to wake them up is to slap them across the face with arguments they can't weasel out of.bitWISE wrote:Some selections from my facebook feed over the past month:

Perhaps you should shatter the world view of the morons who posted that crap so that they, too, will leave the internet and stop posting garbage? We both know it'll be an improvement.

Re: The Election Thread
Cheers, that's actually pretty sad, I know it's not your country that's the only one with this problem, it's just I can't listen to Romney speak without automatically thinking he's a con artist and assume everyone else see's the same.bitWISE wrote:People actually believe all the misinformation. I was watching a proggy on PBS the other day that followed the story of obamacare (not usually interested in politics to this level and have never watched PBS before), was quite surprised to see a leader take the initiative like he did to keep a promise he made, know to take it with a pinch of salt and he may or may not of fallen short in other areas, but watching him put his head and that of his parties on the chopping block to force through a program no one really wanted to help people he does'nt even know was pretty inspiring.

Re: The Election Thread
"you cant multiply wealth by dividing it" is 100% contrary to the almost-sacred capitalist "you gotta spend money to make money"-aphorism.
just throwing it out there.
just throwing it out there.
Re: The Election Thread
technology will make capitalism obsolete in 20-30 years...maybe sooner...

you being an expert on obsolescence...
Re: The Election Thread
For some reason many people have memory problems. Many if the political and economical issues are blamed on Obama but people seem to forget that it was basically 8 years of Bush where the inception of those problems lie.
Re: The Election Thread
I don't think it's necessarily one administration over the other, although republicans appear to monger war a bit more than democrats [or is that just a stereotype?]. It's the hold that the military industrial complex has over government. Good luck getting out of that hole.
