Yes, because that hardware issue is ALL iphone 4's. Don't play stupid, all of the iphone 4's are defective out of the gate. Not so with the Evo.

Next.

Recall is going to cost them too much. I think they're going for free rubbers. rofl.

I doubt it's a hardware thing to be honest. While I do think the security method is harsh and unwanted at the very least, I don't entirely follow the author's reasoning. He says that "if you want to make it difficult to hack, that’s fine". Why is that fine and disabling the device is not fine? I see how there's a difference between the two, but if he claims that he should be able to do anything with the device once he's bought it, then any effort the manufacturer of the phone puts into stopping him from doing just that is equally wrong.

His claim that Android thrives on openness is also a bit off the mark. It thrives because of it's open source nature, sure, but that doesn not include installing hacked ROMs or jailbreaking phones in other ways. It's equally possible to do these things with Apple phones.

To be honest, while I disagree with the system Motorola incorporated in the phone, the whole thing reads a bit like an Apple fan that wants to "NOT RECOMMEND!!!" an Android phone after the whole Consumer Reports debacle. Therefore I have trouble believing him on his word and accepting that this fuse system really is what he says it is.

Last but not least, this has very little to do with Android itself. If it's ment as an Android vs iPhone thing, then it's a pointless excercise.

So when discussing the iPhone, things to do with AT&T and things to do with hardware are fair game. But Android is only a piece of software so any problems related to hardware or carrier are totally unrelated? Kinda seems like we're comparing Apples (ha!) to Oranges at this point. You get applauded for allowing diversity but any negative things at all that come out of it have to be ignored? That's fucking bullshit.
